Lets say I have a digital agency focusing on sales.

I heard that Google needs to see me as an authority - and so that I should write blog posts on that topic to increase Topical authority. Does it even exist?

How to increase it? I understand backlinks game, but do I need to write blog posts also on this topic? Would that help me?

Topical authority means covering your topic thoroughly and consistently so that both search engines and audiences see you as an expert. This helps you rank higher in search results, drive more traffic to your site, and build trust with your audience.

Here are some ways to increase topical authority:

1. Create high-quality content: Provide valuable insights and guidance to your target audience.

2. Conduct keyword research: Identify the most relevant and popular search terms related to your niche.

3. Build backlinks: Get links from other websites that Google already trusts.

4. Audit your content: Make a list of your content and categorize it. Identify gaps and fill them in.

Topical Authority is a term coined by Koray Turgerk Gubur.

It is a very specific methodology on how to make your website the most trusted and cheapest source of information in the eye of search engines.

Do not mistake this by becoming a authority on the topic.

They are not the same.

You can become authority on the topic by writing "high quality" content randomly while not being aware of Topical Authority methodologies at all.

But it will be unstable, luck based even and chance of getting hit during updates will be high.

Topical Authority principles feed search engines what they want in the era on Semantic SEO. And most importantly long-term.

Older article but still valid.

They would have to be really good.

Rewriting the content would most likely totally change the semantics and ruin the whole effect for them.
