Backlinks from BHW suppliers

I have been working with suppliers on the BHW forum and it seems like there's not really been any real improvement on my websites. Many people on here are advising against buying backlinks but it seems like there's tonnes of suppliers on here that only provide paid for backlinks anyway?

It does seem like a lot of them come from websites that aren't remotely related to the main website but many of these backlink providers have great reputations on this forum.

To make matters worse, I've noticed my rankings steadily declining over the past few months and I'm struggling to identify the cause. I run a local taxi service website, so we don't have a blog or regularly updated content that naturally attracts links.

My main challenge is: How do you build quality backlinks organically for a service-based website that isn't naturally "linkable"? It's not like we're publishing interesting content or resources that other sites would naturally want to link to.

But I feel like I'm missing something. Would love to hear from others who've successfully built links for service-based local businesses without relying on paid links from unrelated sites.

Has anyone managed to build a strong backlink profile for a similar type of business? What strategies worked for you?

Sure it's naturally linkable. But you have to create something which people would want to link to, so you'd need to create content.

It could be as simple as a student discount page for local students - Then do an outreach to schools or universities in your area for that.
Do the same for your local business bureau or business directories.

If you do a blog post, then you can write about stats and trends about taxis which other people would link to (kind of like a link magnet)

You're a business owner! That means, you handle marketing, sales, accounting, hiring firing etc. Sign up for qwoted + Featured and start answering queries. Hopefully you should get a link or two.

I've got a site in the health equipment niche, it's just as boring as a local taxi service, but most of my links are through HARO (RIP) + Qwoted + Featured etc.

You could do forum links for people coming to visit your town so you'll need to setup alerts for local attractions, points of interest, the airport etc. Once you get a notification, jump in the forum and write something. It could be as mundane as taking a cab from the airport to the museum cost $20, and we ended up using "local taxi company"

It depends on the quality of the links and how you are diversifying the anchors. You need to publish quality articles relevant to your topic with proper internal linking and promote them on social media pages.

Also, the rankings depend on a lot of factors like on page optimization, website speed, content quality, mobile friendliness, etc. For local businesses, you can set up a GMB profile and submit your details on the local directories.

But more important factor is skill of the website owner.

Even lower quality backlinks can be used effectively if you know what you’re doing.

Most people are throwing links at their website like shit on the wall, hoping something sticks.

Getting links naturally is super difficult for service websites unless you do something controversial and go viral.

What you can do is build naturally looking links (which are usually paid) and focus on content as it has better return on investemt.

Get going with proper content then backlinks would do there part but first of all content is the king

If you plan on acquiring backlinks, you should go over them yourself because most link sellers are too lazy to filter their sites. They are just resellers (they don't even communicate with the site owners) and are selling objective crap.

In your case I wouldn't go for niche relevance, but sites that are local to your area of service.

You are trying to get ranked for something people rarely search Google for. People use apps these days and rarely looking for taxi companies online.

Talk to local bars, make them offer for % of the income for clients they refer to you or pay them for placing your stickers there.

I'm thinking of building more local citations using Brightlocal. Are there any other options out there? I know bright local citations can be a little expensive but might just consider using it for tracking purposes.

Really depends on what you've bought.

If you purchased a "pack" or a link from a seller and you don't even know the domain name it is guaranteed garbage link that may even do more harm than good.
If you do not vett every single domain you link to your money site, you're going to go absolutely nowhere with SEO.

The only correct use of packs and links of random domains is to make them NF to make your backlink profile more diverse.

See, 10 pager websites with a handful of links randomly thrown to them did rank, but they don't necessarily anymore.

This is why even the biggest companies now invest in content creation. Even the bigger companies in very cutthroat avenues like web hosting like WPEngine. Or even Cloudflare.

Now, here's how I'd approach this particular instance.

Neighborhood based Pages

- Create a list of every area you service, look our for major cities, smaller neighborhoods.
- Create a page for each city

Ref - https://cabbazar.com/city/dadar

This is a local cab service company in India and you can see the city page. Dadar is a sub-town/neighborhood in Mumbai (which is a large city)

Title - Local Cab in (city) (reference only)

Silo - site.com/city/(city)

Prime Pickup Points

Identify bus terminals, railway stations, airports, parks, hotels etc.

Since you're in the business, you must be aware of your most chosen pick up points.

Now create pages for these pick up points

Embellish the pages with key information about the point - (Pickup Location, Timings, Entry Fee etc.)

Title - Local Cab from (name) Airport

Silo - site.com/pickup/(pickup-point-name)

Prime Destinations

Again, identify destinations - use your historic data and come up with Prime travel destinations

These could be hotels, beaches, places of worship, business centres

Create content around these.

Title - Book a Taxi for (Destination)

Silo - site.com/destinations/(name)

Tourist Activities

Identify tourist destinations - hiking groups, trekking groups, food walks, ropeway, jungle safaris, city tours etc.

Create content around these

Title - (Activity Name) in (Tourist Spot)

Silo - site.com/tourism/(name)

The above will help you scale horizontally and give you more link building avenues.

Some things to add -

- It's very easy to fall into programmatic SEO for the above pages. But please don't. While pSEO works really well, a small mistake and you'll fall into Google's Scaled Content Abuse pit.

Instead, make the above pages very carefully.

Spend some time researching, then make a mindmap out of it.

- There may be some overlap with destination names, be careful about the placement. Avoid repetition.

- Interlinking is important. Create Silos. Link internally amidst them all.

- Each page should have a Booking Widget at the top and a scaled down version of the Widget at the bottom as well, to maximise conversions.

- Use proper H2/H3 tags and introduced semantically relevant title variations

+ cheapest cabs in cityName
+ air conditioned cabs in cityName
+ local taxis in cityName
+ outstation cabs in cityName
+ airport taxi in cityName

Etc.

Beyond that, here are some more tips for content creation -

- Build customer testimonial pages
- Build out your reviews in GMB, Trustpilot and your FB page and embed them on your site
- Build a fleet information page - to showcase your cabs and the vehicle kind your customers can book
- Create a "Safe Ride" program that you can partner with on local watering holes - get local PR/coverage on this.
- Create a "Tourist Guide to cityName" - a huge pillar page that covers almost everything + has your booking widget.
- Undertake "Game Day Transportation" or "Event Day transportation" planned months ahead of major events or sporting events.

And finally building links -

- Work with a provider who is aware of what they are doing. You'll have to search a bit, but amidst all the noise and resellers there are people who genuinely understand your needs
- Higher cost does not always mean good, lower does not always mean bad
- Keep your local citation game on point - build links to these citations as well
- if you follow a content building strategy (the above one or anything else) - your leeway with link velocity increases. But you have to track this metric thoroughly.
- Ensure there is some updation of the content on your site every week.
- Manage your anchors (and maintain a master anchor distribution list, across providers)
- If you're from a non-English speaking country, try to get more BLs from local sites
- Avoid link pyramids, circles, trapezoids.
- Avoid extremely cheap PBNs.
- Avoid any form of submission services.
- Ask for a sample before ordering links, if you donot understand what is being ordered, ask the community. Confirm from the seller that the deliverables will match what's shown in the sample.
- Get local/semi national PR as and when you can.

Similar experience here. Paid several hundred bucks and saw no huge improvement. Now I have just been using cheaper services but I scan for spam and high DA/DR and since then have seen some definite improvement in my site.
