I don't know where to start... YT newbie lost

Hi,

The only secret is the obvious advise that is make good content, however what is good content? We will try to explain to your briefly without making it too boring, so here goes.

1- if your ctr is low it just means youtube has tested out your video with viewers and it seems like people are less interested to click on your thumbnail. Thumbnails are basically the first impression of your video, if that isnt going to be clicked, then doesnt matter how good your video editing is. How can you make your thumbnails more interesting? easiest way is to check your competitors who bag in millions of views or atleast a high amount of views, and simply copy that pattern, tips- make sure to add big texts/ words related to the video, for example if it is a "how to make money" niche, add words like " 10 MILLION IN 1 DAY", "$10-$10000 in 12 HOURS" etc. so basically increase your CTRs!

2- Once you have got the thumbnail part ready, focus on the video editing, there is a rule to keep viewers engaged and that is basically the first point that is "the hook', your first few seconds to a minute of your video should be exciting with good transitions, story telling...dont fully reveal what your going to show in the video, just show interesting bits and then cut it off and tell viewers to "stick till the end of the video to see what happens", this adds curiosity to the viewers and they will hold on to the video for quite a while. once you increase retention, youtube automatically suggests your videos to new audiences

3- SEO is important, you can use tools like rapid tags etc to help you with that or just simply right click on the video page of one of your competitor's video and check page source, you get to see the tags they have used and copy paste those. or easier way, you can use tubebuddy to see their tags.

Promotions also help, however when you select an smm panel, make sure they are reliable and have good services, we have helped tons of clients with boosting their youtube and other social media pages so yes, smm works to push your channels to the algo.

As you were saying about thumbnails, I have followed the same method, copying the 'video packaging' of popular videos in my niche. putting my own twist on it. I have this concern that YT is showing my content to the wrong audience. My videos are geared toward young ladies, navigating their 20ies.. while the audience analytics shows 50% middle aged men... and the search terms on which my video is suggested are completly off... this could explain my low CTR...? if this is the case, is there any way to help the Algo understand my content better?

There is lot of competition on YouTube. You will have to do something very different.

Still if you do not get views, it means that viewers are not liking your style. You should try something else in that case.

I am a big YT watcher myself, for years. I love the platform. 4 weeks a go I started uploading videos for the first time on self development and feminine energy. I did a lot of pre research and I find my quality pretty good, T&T, sound, edit, content, SEO, Keywords. I mean I love watching my videos myself... The impressions I get are very low.... the CTR is around 3% .... videos hit an average of 500 views.... WORST OF ALL: my video is being suggested on the most random search topics ever!!! I'm lost... I have 500 questions in my head... Should I buy followers, should I use SMM, which one, should I use blackhat SEO, should I buy a channel, OR IS THERE EVEN A SECRET NOBODY IS TELLING ME.... I'm sorry for being dramatic hahah, but I'm also not very smart with these digital strategies and terms on this site... very overwhelming... Can someone please tell me where to start? beside the obv YT advise of making good content, T&T and SEO... which I am trying my best...

After creating the content... focus on keywords & seo... create 2-3 shorts from your long format video & than use hashtags of the 10 creators that are famous in your country in this niche & hashtag them in the shorts as it will help you get more views, reach & for starter it is the best thing as youtube does help the newbies... For hashtags go on google & type best self development content creator in my country & you will get the list tag males & females in the list, use keyword planner tool for better volume understanding & use your niche hashtags too for your youtube growth & there won't be much random searches as youtube algo is much smarter than the previous time. Use this after that its all depend on your content & editing skills.... If you have great editing skills please dm me as I have niche, I have research but the only skill I lack is editing & I am working on it but if you have better editing skills than we can do barter system. I think this is very important info. I know you're passionate about that topic but is there any other theme that you want to showcase on YT that may meet this audience. I feel the one you have can work but it may be a bit easier with a different topic. Either way, hope it all works out for you.

Nobody will give you any advice, until you learn the skill by yourself...What works for one person , doesn't work for another.....There is no formula one for all....I see channel blows up with no thumbnails in 4 weeks with what some would say has no quality, but guess what has 100 % human connection.....If you trying to impose, impersonate or create some persona that do not exist or its fake, human audience will not watch it at all....

I appreciate your advice, as that was my initial question in my post. Curious where in the post you read that I am after money? If I want quick money there are tons of easier ways to get that, I've been in business since age of 18. This niche and YT in general are my passions, as I stated, so growing an audience is my priority in this case. But that does not take away that YES, I do expect a return on investment for the time I put into this channel. Don't think there is anything wrong with that.
