Dear Blackhat users,

I manage cpc campaigns with more than 100k per month adspend. However, now that I've changed all the ads a little bit, I notice that my impressions have dropped by 70%. There have been no changes for the rest.

I wonder if you also have experience with this and how much time it usually takes for you to get back to the old 'level' after making adjustments.

Is it the case that someone at Google manually approves the account again or what do you think about that?

Thank you!

so you spend 100k per month and never before made changes to your ads? :D is it 100k greek drachmas? :anyway:

to answer your question based on the limited information you've provided it could be that your quality score dropped, so your cpcs went up. i personally haven't heard of a manual approval, however have seen some people being limited in their daily spend until the account becomes "trustworthy" in google's eyes (like on facebook), however if you've been spending loads before that i don't think this could be affecting you

It’s probably due to Google adjusting after your changes it may take a few days to a week for impressions to bounce back.

It’s likely that the changes triggered a temporary disruption in your ad performance bt it shouldn’t require manual approval from google. it can take a few days to a week for your campaigns to stabilize, depending on factors like learning phases, audience targeting and ad relevance.

It’s possible that the changes impacted your ad relevance or targeting, which can cause a drop in impressions; typically, it takes a few days to a week for the system to recalibrate and recover. Google doesn’t manually approve accounts, but the algorithm may need time to adjust.

It’s probably an algorithm adjustment, it can take a few days to weeks to recover. No manual review needed.

In my experience, after making ad or structural changes, Google often needs some time to reprocess everything. I’ve seen impressions drop temporarily, and it can take a few days up to a week for things to stabilize again. Usually it’s automated rather than manual approval, unless there are policy issues.

Yeah, every time you adjust ads, Google resets their learning phase—impressions can drop big at first, then slowly climb back as the system re-optimizes.

A significant drop after editing ads is fairly common, especially if multiple elements were changed at once. The system often needs some time to recalibrate quality signals like CTR and relevance before impressions normalize again.

As long as there are no policy warnings and budgets/bids remain unchanged, this usually resolves on its own over several days. In most cases it’s an automated process rather than a manual review.

An increase in CPC can lead to fewer ad impressions. However, what ultimately matters is clicks and results. If impressions decrease but results remain the same, there’s no real issue.

Performance may briefly drop after updates, but no manual review is needed; results typically normalize within days as systems relearn and optimize.

Usually Google needs some hours to re-optimize after changes, sometimes 24–48h, impressions slowly pick up again.

you just reset the learning phase, give it 7 days to recalibrate before touching anything else.

Normal man, big ad edits can reset learning and QS signals, impressions usually recover in few days to couple weeks, no manual reapproval thing, just algo recalibrating

A 70% impressions drop in high spend CPC campaigns is common, often due to platforms like Google or Facebook resetting their learning phases or re evaluating quality Scores and ad relevance.
