Do You Have a Music Player in 2024?

I know many people just use their phones for music these days, although I just like keeping my music separate from my phone as I prefer to listen uninterrupted.

It's because of this that around 5 years ago, I started looking for a dedicated hi-fi music player. I mainly wanted something that was just a music player and not a multimedia device, but I had a few other requirements:

• No internet connectivity. I wanted to update it from my computer.
• Bluetooth functionality
• Can play flac files.
• Does not use Android. It's just a personal preference.
• Has a unique and responsive AI.
• Has a touchscreen, but I can also navigate it with physical buttons.
• A durable build and design.

I ended up settling on a Sony Walkman NW-A55. My only gripe with it is that instead of USB-C, it has this really specific connector I need to use in order to charge it or connect it to my computer.

Four years later, I still use this nearly every day. I've dropped it, lost it, tossed it around, stepped on it; and it still looks fairly new.

So, do any of you have a music player in 2024? If so, what model and what made you choose it?

used too have one but it broke and couldn't fix it, I'm looking for a new one, in case I can't listen music from my cellhpone anymore I could use the walkman, I remember they were called Mp3 or Mp4 players, old good memories coming back, really loved those times.

put it on low battery
turn off cellar
turn off wifi (unless I am downloading my new songs off spotify)
have spotify and go
Although, I do really miss the ipod nanos, dammit apple, why take it away from us

My daughter has something called Mighty, which is similar- plays music without internet connection (it can be updated from a phone with music from Spotify). However, it’s been a bit temperamental, so I might look up the device you’ve mentioned as an alternative for her.

She needs it to have no internet connection so she can use it to play music during her exams at school.

I have been a Walkman guy, ever since my cousin gifted a young me one of those OG Walkman that played a cassette.

Have even owned the Sony Walkman phones back in the day.

Currently own a NW-A306

I never leave my home without it.

I keep this with me, majorly because I listen to a lot of covers and unreleased music. And Youtube, Spotify et al just kill the vibe for me in terms of bitrate.

It has USB-C and runs Android. I do have Spotify on it, but I use it more in the car than in earphones. For headphones, it's gotta be the Walkman for me.

That's a pretty good solution to the multimedia problem I was dealing with!

Some people still get old iPods, although the newer music players have a lot of neat new features. I mean, playing flac music is important to me, and I don't think the old iPods can play those.

It's a really good device, although it's a little pricey.

You can look at the one my wife has, which is a Hidizs AP80 PRO-X. It's half the price of mine. The only issue with it is that it isn't as durable, but you can get a case for it to protect it.

I didn't know the newer ones have USB-C! I might look over the newer models at some point.

That's kinda why i sold my old ipod touch gen3 and got an android.
Although, most smartphones are huge
Maybe in a few years, the Motorola Razr (2022) which is like 350 will be cheaper and probably great for spotify

I have the Motorola Razr (2022). I found that at least with mine, it has a durability problem with the screen where it becomes unresponsive and just stops working entirely. I spoke with others who repaired phones who mentioned they had a bunch of people bringing them in for exactly the same problem.

I had the 2020 version of the phone as well, and even though the screen broke on that one, it broke due to my own usage.

That one reminds me of my old Hidizs AP60. I got it on sale because I wanted a cheap hifi player, but it turned out to be unwieldy, for lack of a better word.

I mean, the main thing is the hardware for those. I still have my old player, and I'm planning on using it for the sound system in my living room at some point.
