Hello, to detect the Meta Ads bot, is it enough to detect the user agent meta-externalagent or meta-externalfetcher?

Wouldn't it be very easy to bypass? How do I detect the Meta Ads bot when creating a campaign?

so u want to make ur landing page looks different between meta-ads and target audience using user-agent detecting such as meta-externalagent or meta-externalfetcher?

Exactly. I found a paid service on the internet that does exactly that, hence my doubt.

I'm also interested in the same problem as you. If so, please let me know

How do I detect the Meta Ads bot when creating a campaign?
For effective bot detection, it's crucial to use a combination of techniques, including behavioral analysis and device fingerprinting

Nah, just checking for meta-externalagent or meta-externalfetcher in the User-Agent isn’t enough. It’s way too easy to spoof. To reliably detect the Meta Ads bot when creating a campaign, you should also look at IP ranges (Meta publishes them), request behavior (e.g., frequency, headers, patterns), and possibly TLS fingerprinting. A mix of these methods will give you a much stronger detection.

I think Meta will check many factors from IP to user actions, expressing emotions, watching videos, dwell time or sometimes eavesdropping. I am interested in this issue.

Relying solely on... such as "meta-externalagent" or "meta-externalfetcher" may not suffice, as these identifiers could potentially be bypassed

Ways to effectively detect bots. Bots often generate short bursts of traffic. Bots often use IP addresses from data centers or proxy networks. Bots often have inconsistent or unusual browser fingerprints.

Relying on browsers is a simple approach but not robust enough to detect all types of Meta Ads bots, there are more complex bots or bots that are customized to impersonate browsers without our knowledge.
