Aged vs Expired Domains

how do i tell if it's aged or expired then??

Expired domains get dropped. When you check the whois records for an expired domain, you won't find one. Because the domain has dropped.
Aged domains are simply old domains that either someone's selling, or they have entered redemption (owner did not pay for a renewal) and are available for an auction by the registrar.
So that's how you tell the difference, if there's a whois records for the domain. It hasn't expired.
@hideth's right about which one is better for ranking. The one with the better link profile, doesn't matter if it has expired or aged. If the links are still in Google's index the better one will win.

All domains are expired domains. Now either they are aged like 5, 10, 15 yrs old which people call them aged domains OR they are dropped domains where the age gets reset. If your niche is casino, the best type of domains are expired domains with age, strong homepage backlinks and existing traffic. Ping me if need any more help

Hello, ong. First of all the two domain names have different definitions. An old domain name is a reliable domain name that has existed on the Internet for a long time, while an expired domain name is a domain name that has been registered by someone else and not renewed in a timely manner. Expired domains have the opportunity to be re-registered after a period of time. As for which one is more suitable to rank in Google search, I think the content is more important compared to the domain name.

I read this thread a few days ago, and understand the difference between an Aged Domain vs Expired Domain. So thank you for that.
On another note, as 'practice" I bought 2 aged domains on GoDaddy auctions. Before I did I practiced doing my due diligence and checked whois, backlink profile, anchor text, all that good stuff. When I won the auction for the one domain1.com (example) it added in a fee for the renewal of a .com site ".COM Domain Renewal $xx." This indicated to me that the domain was expired and not aged. For the other one domain2.net (example) it just added a fee for transferring ".NET Domain Transfer $xx.) This indicated to me that the domain is aged (not expired). Considering even now I can see through a whois search that both domains have yet to expire. Why would this happen for domain1.com? I found these domains on expireddomains.com in the "GoDaddy Auctions With Bids" section.
I hope this makes sense and isn't the most stupid thing you've read all day.

some domains are added by sellers and I think different domain registrars list their domains. If you buy a domain registered at godaddy, it's just renewed. If it comes from another seller, it's transferred. Either way, if you get a site with a good history, you can get good results.

Aged domains have continuous history and backlinks while expired domains were inactive after expiration. Aged domains are generally better for google ranking due to consistent authority whereas expired domains might face trust issues unless carefully vetted. The choice is yours
