Hey everyone,

I’ve been reading a lot recently about the future of the computer science field and have seen some pretty mixed opinions, especially on social media. Some are claiming that pursuing a degree in computer science is no longer worth it and that soon all software engineers will be out of a job. That sounds extreme to me, and I believe it’s an oversimplification.

However, there is some worrying news coming from the US, where salaries for software developers have been dropping, and there have been waves of mass layoffs. Some people are calling it the end of the tech boom, saying that the bubble has finally burst.

But is that really the case? Or are we just seeing a natural market correction after years of growth?

I’m curious to hear what others think about this. Are these recent developments in the US just a temporary dip, or is the demand for computer science professionals really going to shrink long-term? How do you see the job market evolving, especially in other parts of the world?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Its because of Saturation. Take any fields, you will see 2-3 giant companies holding the 95% of works - This applies to IT field as well.

When something is not in demand - it already loses its value.. Whats the purposes of one million softweare developers when only thousands are in need?

I see your point but still, nearly every company today, not just tech giants, needs IT specialists and software developers. Industries like healthcare, finance and manufacturing all rely heavily on tech talent.
