A platform that buys, sorts, and resells second-hand Lego sets. Turn used bricks into .

  1. The Problem
Lego’s been a big part of all our lives—whether building epic sets or stepping on those evil bricks. But here’s the catch: it’s super wasteful. Sets get built, sit on a shelf, or become random bricks in a pile. And the plastic? Yeah, it’s not breaking down anytime soon. Lego's got a sustainability problem, and in 2023, that’s a big problem. Time to fix it.
  2. The Solution
Create a platform that buys used Lego bricks, sorts them using AI, and resells them as full sets—or even brand-new custom sets.
How it works:
  • Sellers weigh their random Lego bricks, input the weight in an app, get an instant cash offer, and ship them out.
  • Your tech then sorts the bricks using machine learning to piece together old or even new sets.
  • Sell those sets online for profit.

With Lego demand skyrocketing, this is a win. And with AI involved, it’s not just another marketplace—it’s something big companies would drool over.

  1. Business Plan
Start by selling on platforms like eBay, Bricklink, or Brickowl where Lego hunters are already at. Once you’ve got traction, roll out your own site.
Make money from each set sold. Keep it simple. You’ll need some investment to get the sorting tech built, so hit up some investors or raise a few hundred k to get things popping.
  2. The Bag
Shoot for the stars: Lego might buy this whole operation as part of their sustainability push (aka their “we care about the planet” PR move, CSR). If not, this could still be a multi-million dollar business on its own. Either way, you’re stacking bricks (literally and figuratively).

wow

How has no one thought about this already? That sounds like a mega idea if you can pull it off. Props to you!

Haha, thanks for the vote of confidence! I've definitely had similar thoughts myself - it does seem surprising that no one has tackled this idea before. But I think that's often the case with innovative ideas - they seem obvious in hindsight, but it takes someone to actually take the leap and make it happen.
