Another cringe. Why do we do that? Cannot we just automate our cameras? What is so hard about it? The whole generative video AI is based on a stupid idea we need to recreate the reality instead of just being in it and using tools we already have cause "we always need something better, more powerful". This isn't powerful. This is a gimmick.

It's something like video games - you don't need them, they're just cool but they don't really give you any purpose or something. So I don't think it's a good direction for humanity. It's awful. Does anyone even ask a question why do we do that... No? Microsoft is banking... that's all that matters.

Using it feels like imprisoning oneself. You have to trick yourself to believe it makes sense and it has something to do with actual intelligence. Stick to machine learning use cases that work and have been applied for decades. This sh1t is a stupid hyped use case nobody really needs in their life. It's like a smokescreen.

Originally, Carpenter had not planned to film the car's regeneration scenes, but gave special effects supervisor Roy Arbogast three weeks to devise a way for the car to rebuild itself. Arbogast and his team made rubber molds from one of the cars, including a whole front end. One of the cars was stripped of its engine to accommodate internally-mounted hydraulics that pulled the framework inward, crumpling the car, with the shot then run backwards in the final film.

In reality you can easily control those parameters like light, sound, scene etc. With AI it takes ages to get that control. And the end effect, no matter how hard you try, is not real. It's just reversing reality using some odd idea.

Maybe one day they'll finally create some metaverse where it will look more realistic and it won't be generative, but rendered.

It does what my brain does when I smoke too much garbage which I've been avoiding for years due to me dreaming too hard anyways without it.

sometimes it is called creativity or even art, depends how you see it but there are different useful applications to those kinds of vids, i.e. marketing

Can't see it further than a cheap stock footage with VFX replacement. Really we've been able to achieve this decades ago. People who get so hyped about it probably won't even use it. If it will be really useful, you will use it. But it won't be because we have already too much stable video. Netflix library is creative and big enough and I don't think it'll make any difference. It'll just make user generated stuff more feasible. Real creators won't benefit from it too much, maybe they'll have lives easier to an extent, but I doubt they'll use publicly available models - they're toys as I've been analyzing past 3 years.

If you need a volcano erupting in a coffee mug for a coffee advertisement how would you do it? Is it as easy as typing a prompt? or do you get equipment, film a mug, and post-production with visual effects that will take hours of work/ costly outsourcing?

The level of skill needed for both looks kind of similar. I don't know, sounds like 3% of the whole thing. So what that I have advertising? It's a small part of marketing and even smaller of business. Writing that prompt will take hours, then you'll need to make it coherent with brand and train that AI. Before you do it, someone else will do all of it manually. So I find it just overrated.
