They will come on their own? In such a competitive world?
This is only lack of skillful action. There's nothing competitive in this world other than ourselves. I can post more truistic sentences. Unfortunately that's how it works.
The more efficient is process at very granular / detailed levels, the more money it gets.
So to get clients all you need to do is win with your demons which is getting interpersonal skills, but that's something you get when you're 40 or so. So freelancing is maybe good for photographers or programmers who got that already. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone cause it will break them.
You need a very simple phone call script that gets them to answer in a few sentences, but to figure that out, you need to understand business personalities which I wouldn't do because life is too short to sell to individual businesses and deal with lawyers.
Freelancing / B2B is asking single people for big numbers and that creates an opportunity for other people to get one rolled over many times. There's plenty of manipulators and machiavellian personalities in this and they make money basically by lying. If you want to be their victim, maybe start freelancing or an agency. Well, then you'll be grateful for harsh lessons that something like that gives you. You'll discover how evil these people are.
It generates much bigger problems than B2C because people get to know your address, your personal details and a lot more. People don't understand that this "freelancing" stuff is a smokescreen sort of and there's something dangerous behind it. Not many people can handle it. A lot of them end up in big debts as they sign some agreements remotely. It's sometimes like signing a pact with the devil where you sign something and then forget about it, years later you still pay for it. And it's on many, many levels.
And the other things that you wrote about freelancing (the goods and bads) is quite a personal experience and taste.
Well, but of all fields it's the most dangerous. Because if you don't sell all of your skills, mostly you'll invite scammers or hustlers into your life who're looking for cheap articles, graphics, leads and such, common stuff. If you sell all of your skills, your client pool will be very small and you'll sign an NDA and get in debt, then pay for it.
It's really a lot easier to start a local business than do this. Although you can't do something a freelancer would do. It's a bad idea. A freelancer won't cook burgers or get their hands dirty. So you can do this. Mcdonald's rarely scams people and if they do, it'll ruin their reputation.
You need an edge, a moat created in 6 months is better than no moat. People have moats in their lives, some exceptional works and they don't even realize it. Realizing it can get you some great results - what separates you from the crowd.
