Not many games these days. They’re just not fun anymore. A lot of people I played games with feel the same way. “Games just aren’t fun anymore” is probably the most mentioned phrase in some of our group chats from 2015.
Games haven't changed as much as people think. This is more just because we have an ageing gaming population.
You won't find 12-20 year olds having his sentiment. It's mostly people who have been gaming for a long time. Especially the 30+ generation like myself who have become more bored.
You can argue this, and games are different these days with generally weaker gameplay, but I think if you took modern games and gave them to us years ago, we would have had plenty of fun.
The original World of Warcraft for example.. I had so much fun playing it. But was it really that good? Or was it just because I was younger, and it was new.
If the first version was like current retail, would I really not have enjoyed it? I doubt it.. I'd probably have enjoyed it more.
We usually just label things good from a time in our life when we were naturally predisposed to like something more.
For me, the Internet of the 90s was the best. Was it objectively? lol. Definitely not, but it was the feelings/emotions from the time that make it that way.
And the thing is..
You're talking about your group chats from 2015. lol.. In the early 2000's we were already talking about how gaming had become complete shit. The guys I was gaming with in the 90's found the mid 2000 games a pile of steaming garbage.
The main difference now is the groups get bigger and communication is more vast. There were more people gaming in 2005-2015 than 1995-2005, so there's more people to comment on how gaming has gone downhill.
