I'm watching them videos where some Steven Seagal type of dudes neutralize multiple opponents choreographically

How the heck can you expect your enemy to be THAT slower than you?

I believe in a fight the best way to win is to have a way stronger body and an assertive personality. Technique may play a minor role, but I don't think that you can really defeat Goliath like David.

I don’t think it’s a scam per se but the people who are best at it ie Israeli special forces would presumably be getting the best in-house training and probably train in it everyday too. One hour a week every saturday at your local community centre probably wont do much if your hope it makes you like jason statham

Most of these martial arts are fake, to make money from students.

Even mma fighters sometimes get beaten or killed on the street.
The case is, such fights are unpredictable, without rules. Enemy will use everything he have in range to destruct you.

Good fake is also defense against knife. Many videos on Youtube, also in krav maga world how to fight with knife xD
Some guys in Poland tested. Even blindly hitting amateur was giving deadly strikes to the mannequin. Imagine when adrenaline start to work.
Then even kid can kill you with knife.
Run is the only way against knife.

Ohhh I think you gave me an idea

I will start my own martial art in which you will also be using psychological war tactics (tongue kissing the opponent when it's least expected)

Too late. In Russia they have it

Krav Maga is not fake, but many online "expert" are calling Krav Maga to some weird moves that having nothing to do with it.
I've been practicing it a lot during my time in the army and some of these techniques probably saved my life more than once.

as the guy above said, the current martial arts are not much use, they only serve to give you discipline and learn new things, the best defense will always be a gun, pepper spray or just run.

just like fighting with weapons (like in the middle ages, look up how they really fought with weapons and you'll see it's pretty funny).

in reality, the difficulty increases drastically the more opponents you add, add a bladed weapon and it will probably be better to surrender and give up everything you have.

if the darkest era of mankind, the best fought as best they could, you won't do much better.

No Krav Maga is not a scam. Even Wing Chun is not a scam if you don't have a trainer that isn't a complete idiot. However, in these sports it can be quite difficult to find a trainer that actually knows what he is talking about. A lot of people forget that in Street Fights there are no rules, so even a punch in the nuts is legit (and one of the most effective ways by the way), stab in eye, palm to the neck. All "allowed" in a street fight because there are no rules.

If you are wanting to learn martial arts you should find a martial arts school that actually practices sparring as well. Sparring is an important part to master the techniques you've learned. Because when you get hit in the face, at least 50% of what you learned is gonna disappear in fight anyways.

You did not read what I said then.

It's not ideal for self defense as Wing Chun does not have a "round structure", but It can certainly help you in a street fight IF you know what you are doing.

Wing Chun is crap. Really ;)
Maybe in 100-300 years ago China it was working, but most of these techniques are not working on average weight Europeans or Americans.
It's lack of strenght in this style. How this can work on 100kg guys?
Also lack of defence. In wing chun you are not defending your head.
Almost all Chinese martial arts were prepared to aim in vital points like eyes. But in real street fight it's almost impossible to aim. It's also not useful in sport, because gloves.

I don't think a good trainer would help wing chun nowadays.

I can't proof that Wing Chun is crap because I do not practice it nor do I know what exactly they practice. I practice a sport that is closely related to Krav Maga and it has a round structure involved in it because that's really important for actual street fights. Matter of the fact is that if you are 50kg and you are against a 100kg guy most likely no Wing Chun or Krav Maga will help you as the strength difference is too much.

Wing Chun has the idea that once you strike an opponent, you keep going forward and "flood" the opponent with strikes. The strikes of Wing Chun people are usually not that heavy and therefore it will not help with guys that are much heavier than you are. That and the missing round structure thing are 2 things that I really dislike about Wing Chun. Like I said, it can help you but it will certainly not inflict heavy damage on your opponent.

Well that's another problem. I don't think people in Wing Chun actually do sparring quite much. Sparring is a necessary part of mastering techniques and getting them down really good. Doesn't matter if you have practiced a kick a thousand times. If it doesn't work in the actual fight, you haven't really mastered it. Street fights are heavily situation dependent. Whose involved in it, is your opponent drunk, on drugs or anything? Does he have any sort of fighting experience? etc.

In MMA you'll often see people do whats called "Feint, Fake, Strike". So they'll "fake" an attack and attack with the gloves at the same time. This will throw off a lot of people. Tested it myself in some of my sparring times and it works really nice.

Best is to avoid street fight. In 99% cases it can be avoided.
If you cannot avoid:
1. Try to hit first
2. Don't use fists, most of people will break their fists bones, use open hand
3. Hit in nuts, ears, throat
4. If you use fist, hit in chin
5. Don't use hook punches. Use short, fast punches
6. After your oponent is on the ground, just run

I would avoid it because huuuuge % of people in Poland is armed. Pepper spray, baton, knife or even real gun. 300k people in my country have gun permit. In such countries like the USA number is insane. Normaly I carry pepper spray. Was trying with baton but it's too big. Was trying with knife, here you need huge practice and it's too easy to kill someone accidentaly.

Chinese martial arts are good for movies. They are just beautiful and here it's their place.

I don’t believe that Krav Maga is a scam but I do believe it matters greatly who it is being taught by and whether they have any credentials.

There are many factors when it comes to fighting which include -

Technique - whether you know how to throw a punch, control distance, block or move away from strikes etc.

Experience - whether you have been in a fight situation and you can relax under the pressure or have some idea of what it’s like having strikes thrown at you. For example if you’ve never been hit in the face before that might shock you so much that you just freeze. Also, if you practice a martial art it’s easy to feel powerful but if you’ve never been in a real fight situation then you have no idea how effective your art would be.

Aggression - you definitely need some aggression to be able to fight and not everybody has it. You could win a fight having way less experience but more aggression.

Stamina - a big factor, how fit you are and how quickly you get tired out, slow down or become less effective.

Psychology - how much do you want to win the fight, how much are you worried about getting hurt and how much are you willing to hurt the other person? This is also a big factor.

all of that being said, I think sparring is a good way to test your skills in practice. Being in a competitive environment is even better (fighting someone who’s only goal is to beat you).

And as for fighting in the street, I would say avoid it at all costs because that’s nothing like martial arts and anything could happen. Also it’s worth considering that someone who has had many street fights is “trained” just like someone who does martial arts because they’ve had lots of experience and learned lessons about fighting along the way.

Training in any martial art will teach you discipline and should improve your coordination and athleticism. Krav Maga, specifically, is a modern fighting technique not designed for sport.

Because KM isn't interested in becoming a sport it is meant to find what is effective. Unfortunately for a lot of places that teach and people that learn, they don't tend to do much sparring and sparring is where most people find where their real skill is at.

Most KM techniques I've seen would be effective but without being able to get those reps in, in a friendly competitive sparring session, they aren't likely to be usable in a combat situation.

Compared to something more traditional like boxing, wrestling, kickboxing etc etc, sparring / rolling is a huge part of advancing ability in the sport. I'd rather be able to pick a person up at will or strike any part of a person with accuracy and consistency over knowing how to kick someone's balls out their nostrils in a 1 in a million situation.

TLDR: Not a scam, could be useful, not great for most people.
