If people aren't buying your software, there are likely 3 reasons:

1. They don't know about it.
2. There are better/cheaper options out there.
3. There is no need for it.

Don't build software just for the sake of it. Look at what people are trying to achieve and what solution you can provide.

If anything, you can use them to get software development clients. Clients need a good portfolio to trust you and buy from you, so I think this could be a way to monetize them.
