It came out in December of 1999 so it barely makes the cut as a nineties game but Quake III Arena will forever be my favorite game from this era.

I never had a chance to play Super Mario 64 since I never had a Nintendo 64, but I played the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis. You're right, that was a great game.

I had House of the Dead for the Dreamcast. I didn't know it was on the PC as well.

1991 - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
1992 - Wolfenstein 3D (DOS)
1993 - Doom (DOS)
1994 - Super Metroid (SNES)
1995 - Star Wars: Dark Forces (DOS)
1996 - Super Mario RPG (SNES)
1997 - Total Annihilation (PC)
1998 - Pokemon Red/Blue (Gameboy)
1999 - Super Smash Bros. (N64)

A lot of DOS/SNES in the first 2/3 and a mix in the final third. Honorable mentions are Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1, 1997) and Final Fantasy 7 (PS1, 1997). I know, I know... how did an obscure '97 game most people have never heard of push out SotN and FF7? Because I played Total Annihilation endlessly for like a decade, whereas I barely had PS1 unless I was over with the cousins.

Super Mario was pretty much the game we used to play back then. I also remember playing a two player Mario Bros game that we used to play with a friend. Along with those, there was a tank game which I don't remember that clearly but I had spent hours playing it back then.
