No backlinks, but #1 in SERPs

You don't need backlinks to reach the #1 spot.

Solid keyword research is key.

In this example, we have a keyword with 18k searches in Korea, and it's relatively easy to rank for.

This appears to be a Wix platform, but even if I'm mistaken, the point stands: you don't need anything special in terms of themes or additional features to achieve the top ranking.

Search for keywords that are easy to rank for, and you'll be surprised by what you can discover.

Country specific keywords are easy to rank, most of the time, considering the URL you've given.

In addition to what @MrDenz said, in most cases PBN links don't come up in tools like SEMRush and Ahrefs so it might also be what happens here.

+1 for that one.

If you quickly check this site even though I don't like sharing someone else's website because that could be us tomorrow and our sites...

Anyway, if you look at it, I'm not sure how they managed to get to #1.

Even though they have just one #1 position and a few others in the top 10, in my opinion, the site is very poorly done.

Each page has like 35 different fonts and colors and offers no real value.

Even though I don't understand Korean, it's easy to see... Google doesn't give 2 cents [in some cases].

In Korea, this kind of keyword is possible only by knowing the seo technology even if there is no backlink.
I've done a lot of pub-related seo in Korea.

Maybe they are blocking seo tools and you cant see the backlinks?

The guy is using a PBN and has blocked all the public crawlers like Ahrefs etc. I do this too, it's quite a common practice for people who've their own PBN networks.

How did you know they had a PBN?

the site might be exceptionally well-optimized for the target keyword with precise meta tags, headings, and content structure or high-quality user experience, fast load times, mobile-friendliness, and engaging content can significantly boost rankings

Your competitor is most likely using a PBN and has blocked most trackers to hide their links.

I've checked the domain and found on the first dig 281 pbn links. Avg quality nothing special easy keyboard.

Hidden backlinks.

No other ways to rank for competitive keywords.

Don't think there is such a thing as ranking high in Google without backlinks.

Oh no, so my whitehat seo wannabe guru been BS'ing me that I can rank #1 with high quality content and no links? I'm heart broken!

if i told you i'd have to kill you.

I wouldn't like to go in details about someone's site on a public forum because that can happen to our sites too.
Would you check a domain for me? Would like to know what my competitor does...

Mate, maybe they're nailing their on-page SEO or got some secret local juice we're missing.
