Now google updates are very frequent and every update targets a specific type of links. What does good want to achieve by making blogging and seo tougher than what it used to be?

They want you to pay for ads.

They want you to pay for ads.
That's the conspiracy theory. Which may actually be true. If every website begins paying for ads, what then are the incentives to create quality content for searchers? None.

That would mean the end of Google.

My answer was kinda sarcastic... sorry

They need to have a balance between two to keep there revenue streams running.

SEO is not tougher. Google can't get their shit together. Their shit is all over the place.

I think they don't care right now because they are monopoly, they are focusing on ad revenue,
Only if their market share drops significantly they will improve user experience.

You're right.

I think the foundation of this problem is shareholders wanting more profit and growth.

I mean there's nothing wrong with a company consistently making $10b every year, but if that figure doesn't increase, shareholders value of share would not increase nor would their profit. So, executives get pushed to do more. This is a problem across all publicly listed companies.

Google is prioritizing user retention over publisher traffic, as better user experience directly increases their monetization potential via ads. Data suggests that the volume of AI-generated spam content increased by over 10x between 2023 and 2024, forcing Google to implement more stringent quality filters. The difficulty arises from the constant battle to enforce the E-E-A-T mandate, ensuring sites with genuine authority dominate the SERP.

Each update targets a different link scheme because Google wants to rely less on backlinks and more on real expertise, original content and brand trust.

In simple terms, Google is trying to,
  • Cut down fake or paid links
  • Filter mass AI/thin content
  • Reward sites with real experience and credibility
They’re not trying to kill blogging or SEO , they’re trying to force the ecosystem away from shortcuts and toward content that’s genuinely useful.

Google’s updates mainly aim to boost result quality and reduce manipulation
which makes SEO tougher by design.

Because they want to serve the end user with best experiences. And it's good for all just not good for SEOs.

They want you to pay for ads.
And this strategy is working good for them. Because their revenue and profit is increasing every day.
