Isn’t it more convenient to run the farm with a PC?
Because they don't really want to make money and want to impress their colleagues who are hackers from the 80s, but they don't know what they're doing, so they have to pay fat bucks for mobile phones.
It's of course more expansible idea to build it all on desktops and macs if you think about lower investment costs and possible returns. Deploying a new desktop instance is way easier than buying a physical device.

Yeah, as I said before, people want to impress their colleagues more than make money, but that's human psychology that we think about other people before ourselves when we simply let ourselves compare ourselves to other people. You only want to become better than yourself than better than other people, hence don't do some stupid views farms.
Of course this is a basic idea of how a farm of accounts could be used because fake views only help a little bit. There's 20 less aggressive, safer angles to make fat bucks at YouTube. Just think of having 100k views to your product everyday. Not to your videos, but to your landing pages. This would easily give $1000 a day. However, I don't believe anymore people on this forum come here for money, but rather personal achievements in how many people they'll impress.
There are essentially 3 things that can make you a millionaire on Gmail / YouTube:
- Google Cloud as an expert. You can learn a lot of machine learning and scaling infrastructure there.
- Gmail setup to send infinite number of mails - that's for mailing.
- YouTube channels where each channel gives small revenue, but 10000 pieces give satisfying revenue.
By creating views and likes farms on YouTube (not on Instagram), you'll need probably over 100k accounts and constantly mix them, so there are no connections. Handling it would be hell and without simulations of Google system, I'd not dare to test it. Yeah, it's like you need to do simulated studies and see what would happen in different scenarios until you go to such details that nobody can understand. It'd cost you a hell lot of time and money. It'd be like simulating their machine learning algorithms.
There's a high chance that a deep learning algorithm responsible for anti-botting at YouTube is looking for specific behaviors and clusters accounts, then as these patterns repeat, it massively ghosts them. It's something a human probably will have hard time comprehending without 1000 hours of reasoning and analyzing, but yeah, it's super hard to create a view farm that won't just die any moment. Probably it never happened. People just rebuild them.
They have these heavy math equations that group everything on large graphs and fighting against it is like uh... building an e-commerce business but without business. You're just killing yourself in such a process.
Now, if you don't make money with your giant views farm quickly enough, it's a big loss with 1000s of ghosted accounts. With email / youtube channels setup you won't be removed that quickly if you put your accounts in different locations around the world. Believe it or not, testing something like a view farm can burn wallets of even big money makers.
