hmm... probably the fact that google doesn't like AI content anymore (or, maybe, just unedited AI content, I don't know...)
I was also about to mention topical relevance, internal linking, site structure and orphaned pages as being crucial, but then I remember how mostly irrelevant garbage ranks now (and only because of the authority), so eventually you'll still end up focusing on links to build the authority...

You need structured data, semantics, entities, etc. A lot of things have changed but in a nutshell, Google wants you to make content easy for its bots to understand.

About AI content: what is considered edited? is there a "reliable" tool to test wether google will like the content or not? I remembere that some AI content detectors online were so basic that a simple intentional misspell would make the content 100% human. I doubt that could fool google now.
Also, in your opinion, when editing AI content, do you need to edit each sentence? or maybe editing 5% of the sentences is enough?

most AI content can be told apart from human writing, there are certain words and sentence structures that the AI uses and if you've dealt with AI content for a while you can easily identify these things, so you need to rewrite or remove those words so that it reads normally. I don't know how to explain better, but you can generate 10-15 articles on various topics using ChatGPT and you'll notice that all of these articles start in a certain way, and contain certain words and short sentences and other identifiable things. These are the things you need to rewrite, replace or remove so that the AI detectors can't identify this content as machine-generated...

Don't copy paste AI Content, make sure you edit your content or just analyze your competitors and post content accordingly.
Try to build yourself as a brand, and spread your brand name in the content you are posting. So that it appears to google that your content is unique to your website.

So, I personally doubt that Google can detect AI content (yet) because I have seen a LOT of it everywhere and it also takes a lot of processing power. I don't doubt that they will start to try to filter out ChatGPT content, because OpenAI/Microsoft is their rival.
However, it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to detect AI content in general. As other posters have noted, AI content can be sometimes detected because unprompted, each AI has a certain writing style, phrases, and structure (not unlike humans!) But it is important to note that with more and more LLMs coming onto the market, it will be hard for Google to detect them all.
But right now, given that most people use Chat GPT, you should edit your AI content. This is most common with superfluous adjectives. Chat uses words like, "multifaceted", "dynamic", "a beacon of", "crucial", "ever-changing". It also tends to start conclusions off with "Overall". So most importantly, get rid of phrases and vocabulary that it has a tendency to repeat. That is half of it. The second half is fact-checking... or more specifically, making sure a piece has actual content, rather than vapid fluff that doesn't mean anything. You can do this by pasting information into the prompt and telling Chat to include the information in what you are writing.
ChatGPT loves to use a few specific words, often. Like the word "delve." In "normal" writing you just don't encounter that word often. With ChatGPT articles I ask it to write, "delve" is almost always included, sometimes multiple times. Same with "furthermore" and "moreover," and "in conclusion."
I initially hand-edited out those words. But then I thought, "why am I doing that work when ChatGPT caused the issue?"
So now when I'm asking ChatGPT to write an article, I include in the prompt: "Do not include the words "delve," "furthermore," "moreover," or "conclusion" in your response." Problem solved.
