I remember I have tried this simple way back then in 2011, steps:

1. Create a free blogger and wordpress blog

2. Post low quality spun articles about products of digital affiliate networks

3. Easy blog comment and forum profile backlinks, and blast links to the microblogs and social bookmarking sites with bots

Thousands of visitors, traffic and sales, profit!! $5000 in just a month with that blog. Sounds like a joke or scam, right?

I have literally done this. Was so easy to manipulate Google shit, man.

Golden days of SEO has been gone sadly,
Competition & Algo made the scenario way harder than before,
Yet, it's still one of the best ways to get massive ROIs, people are just lacking experience or/and not willing to invest properly

2011 may as well be 1811 in internet years... it is like Dog years X 47.

We all banked like there was no tomorrow way back when, and did it without much effort, but the standards have changed much like cars.

The problem now is that even if you do everything right, have good content, good links, social media and all that, you can still get thrown in the gutter. Google uses Machine learning in its algorithm, and without direct human intervention it's impossible to be accurate. I personally think independent SEO is done.

And I'm sure those of you who made easy money back then also complained about those who started before you and how easy they had it. Just as we, who started later, do, and as those who come after us will too xd

The scenario has completely changed. Google is punishing sites without links for lack of authority and sites with links for link farming, sites without content for thin content and sites with content for AI-generated content, sites without structure for unorganized content and sites with structure for automation, etc. They find some flaw in every site and derank it. The only way out is to have a ton of quality backlinks and customers who directly visit the site.

Honestly, it's just the same for me. I mean, the engines we have to use and the strategy are almost the same, but the only difference is the time and money we have to invest.

We can still dominate with those platforms like forum profiles, etc., but the way they have to be used is totally different, and the cost is much higher.

if you're using paid advertising.

I've seen Google favor sites that have paid ads running for them. If you have a small blog, you'll probably get penalized for one reason or the other.

tell me about it!

I was purchasing 10 MFA (Made For Adsense) sites each month for $67 (ALL for $67), each site coming with 20 PLR articles on them, I just replaced a few lines of code in the config file and uploaded the site to my cpanel, spun 5-10 articles with TBS and submit to Ezine Articles, GO Articles, and Articlesbase, and 2 weeks later couple of those 10 sites were ranking in google and bringing $40 to $300 a month in Adsense revenue. Back then this was feeling like too much work, but looking at now and comparing to then I would take that 2011 child's play in a heartbeat if it meant even $50 in truly passive revenue....

I feel you, man, I totally do...

But the problem is that Google is for business these days and not affiliate stuff.

Affiliate stuff is not good for Google.

But people are black and white thinkers for the most time. And their expertise seems to not influence that by itself.

So when Google was 2011, today there is probably more than 100 sites like Google in 2011.

But the problem isn't that fact.

The problem is black and white thinking and seeing catastrophies all around the world.

Zooming in hard and looking at the world through a microscope which in this case is Google from the past.

It's the same stuff as politics. You simply obsess on something you can't control. Or something like thinking you could buy a lottery ticket with favorite numbers in the past that won. And bitcoin in 20xx. And so on.

I remember these days as well, wish I took more advantage of it and made way more because stuff isn't getting easier.

I didn't complain, I copied a lot of what they did with adjustments.

I probably owe some of them a cold one.

You should have seen the early days of direct email marketing. It was insanity.

I have a couple of friends that banked unbelievably stupid with email marketing back then.

I'm talking real money, not the 20K a month I was making from the stuff I was doing.

For me SEO started to get hard in 2022.

In 2024, it just dead. Except for easy keyword.
Even parasite site with DA90 got kick out.
