How do you guys tackle this task? What are we specifically looking for?
Explained him very nicelyFirst you have to identify them, the competitors. Then gather all the information about them. Analyse their strategies, strengths and weaknesses. Then you can draw conclusions about them.
You need to look for commonalities between your businesses and where exactly you overlap.
This makes a lot of sense to me, thanks.back in the day (when google actually cared about promoting quality), competitor analysis meant looking for weaknesses of your competitors in order to capitalize on them.
Those weaknesses could have meant anything from content quality to backlink quality to onpage SEO to social media engagement.
Nowadays, however, google hardly gives a rat's ass about quality, they only care about their own pockets and to reward authority regardless of how relevant to the keyword's intent it is. So, I'm not sure what advice to give you other than trying to find keywords for which there aren't many authoritative sites ranking in top 5 and hope for the best.
Either this, or boost your site's authority until you outrank everyone based on your site's DR alone, this is the law of the jungle that google promotes...
Rules of engagement have changed. I remember back in 2021 when I was starting a site, the only analysis I did was how to make content format better than competitors and trust me, basic keyword research. And boom it exploded. Now you've got to see your competitor's link profile, the strategy they are adopting, the way they are catering keywords and articles. Etc. So it's all tough! Start by finding the KGR. I still do it as it mathematical makes sense to me. Then semrushHow do you guys tackle this task? What are we specifically looking for?
