[Announcement] Introducing: The New BHW

I like the new avatar pictures. but overall, feels clunky.
Change is always painful.

I dislike the brown-ish buttons. I like the pic avatar changes.

One other thing I noticed while reading the last 6 pages where I stopped. But before that, I would like to say something about the most posted comments:

Comments like:
- Option to switch between designs!
- I don't like it!
- My eyes!
- Contrast
- Fiverr Designer

I think the Team is already answering every question, even the ones that have been posted 20x.
There is a lot of meaningful Feedback here, with Screenshots, etc., which are constructive feedback and, I guess, appreciated.
Still, questions/points like the one from Deleted member 752298 are under the radar because of so many of the same types of posts.
I already understood that a revert is not possible, and the same is true for having two options. It was answered already.

Life changes are always a matter of time - you get used to it.
As @MrDenz said, somewhere 15 pages before, give it some time.

It's like cheating on your wife or girlfriend; in the beginning, it feels uncomfortable, but later on, you love it. (joke, don't do that)

About the reaction counter:
It seems to be something hurting many people's Egos; I can understand that - because it was more or less something showing contribution, etc.
It's like the second "prestige" metric, the same as any Forum Title.
I already wrote it; the reaction Score is, for me. Steal some E-Books from @sscaz repost them and you gain a lot of Reactions, does it make you a better / more intelligent/reliable person? Probably not.
I could also gift 10x Canva Team invites, which would farm a lot of reactions. However, it would not make me more reliable and skilled in SEO-related topics or anything else. I have nothing against people posting FREE Stuff; this is really appreciated. I hope you understand what I mean by that example.
When I read that there is a person who doesn't even read comments where someone has 1000 Posts and "only" 100 Reactions, damn, this says more about you than about the Reaction Score. I don't want to tag you since you read this anyway.
There should be metrics for people providing real value and contributing regularly, as I said with the Example of Deleted member 752298 , who deserves this.
But it should not be measured by likes; it should be measured more on "Trust Levels" or any other indicator, also shown on the thread (Left sidebar).

To my little Feedback, I don't know if this was explicitly mentioned. Still, I saw it in a Screenshot where someone showed it on the example of Notifications (Hovering with the Mouse above the Notification).

So my little Feedback is similar:

If you hover within the thread over "Report," it remains the same color, even when a new window opens.
If you hover within the thread over "Like," it remains the same color even though no new window has been opened.

The text gets red if you hover over the likes on a specific post. So, at this point, I don't understand what the idea behind this was.
Just mentioning it to have a consistent logic behind this color-changing feature.

Kind regards,

zotix

Thank you for posting this wall of text.
Now I see, it's hurting eyes, because it looks like glowing on black background.
Previous main font color wasn't white, it was little gray.

Looks pretty good on desktop w/ light theme. Might be a bit annoying to get used to, but not a big deal.

Personally, I'm not too fond of this and I hope significant updates will be made.

Aren't updates supposed to make things better? This does not look better than the last version, it's just a new version and not a good one.

  • The text/fonts are harder to read.
  • Users and their flairs are harder to distinguish
  • Users look way too similar to each other
  • The sales threads are off
  • I can't find any positives (at least visually) of what this should have made better than it was before. If you compare other forums that have dark themes like us, they don't have these problems (nulled/cracked for example) as the colors, fonts, and graphs are properly aligned.

So unless some serious changes aren't implemented then I think this will come and bite us in the ass eventually.. Specifically with the new member acquisition because the forum doesn't look professional to hang around anymore.

Change is one of those things that we all fear and appreciate in equal measure. Will new members enjoy the redesign and we will sign up more? Only time will tell.

Updates are indeed meant to improve things, and according to our accessibility scores (yes, I'll bang on about these), they have.

I appreciate your above points reiteriating those who have mentioned the same previously. We will look into these.

Comments like "The sales threads are off" will need more reference screenshots, and explanations are ideal, as per my previous comment on this.

With eye comfort turn on, on mobile it is not looking good, anybody can confirm it?

Examples with screenshots please and which "eye comfort" service are you using?

Yes, I also noticed this.

I prefer to have the reaction score back to the profile as it was a trust indicator for multiple people here.

The reaction score remains on the profile. Placed there as it relates to the profile not the post, this way we can display more information on the user and keeping the post less busy. But hear your thoughts around adding back into the post.

Another thing, where is the link to our profile url in our postings??? Traffic will be down to zero now .. and the only way is to start new threads to get some exposure, welcome spammers, no one is going to answer threads anymore but just starting new ones .. lovely move.

The link to your website is in your profile, as it doesn't add value to the post but rather enriches your profile.
I'd disagree with your assumptions here, but only time will tell.

The new look is good but for some reason it feels like Lilliput of old theme. Everything looks small - the text, avatars, signatures, etc. The favicon is good but I would've preferred something like a blackhat over a globe that symbolises blackhatworld (Most people may not like it though). Apart from that, I've noticed that the mobile version mixes up user profiles with posts in threads. There is no clear margin separating one comment from the other, so it feels like a comment sandwitched between the user who posted it and the next user in the thread. The design should feel like cards that separated one comment from the other in threads.

Leaving negative things aside, I totally love the new banner. It looks cool and professional for the crypto & AI generation. The left sidebar and footer are well arranged. If possible, please increase the size of contents in threads. There is no need to compress everything to save space. I'm not sure about the color contrast of text and background as my eyes quickly adjust. But I guess you need some user feedback to adjust it over time.

I appreciate your feedback.
I'll touch on the bits we've not already covered in previous posts, as you can read all about them there.
When you say
the mobile version mixes up user profiles with posts in threads.
and
...there is no clear margin separating one comment from the other, so it feels like a comment sandwitched between the user who posted it and the next user in the thread
Can you provide URL's and screenshots to we can test this issue? That definitely shouldn't happen.

same I dislike it, want old style ASAP

This isn't an option due to all the reasons already posted.

Fonts is small. To read is difficult. Did developers use glasses while designing? Because, I don’t see the way they felt comfortable with text size.

We're hearing this a lot and appreciate the feedback we will review.

Do they need golden strokes with rounded corners?

Thanks the image really helps me understand your previous points.

The new theme has just killed the overall vibe of the forum. The old theme was the identity of BHW. Also, it's so hard to read the forum now. I think I'll have to borrow a magnifying glass from my grandpa to read BHW now.

I apologize but this new theme is a disaster.

We're looking at the font size.
The accessibility points are covered here and the old theme, unfortunately, couldn't be saved.

get the old one back

how to get back the old one?

This isn't an option for all the reasons provided previously.

Link is this
https://www.blackhatworld.com/forums/thread-edits.281/

That can be easily solved by putting link to homepage or any other suitable page with respective heading. I checked for most pages and it was correct for others.

Sorry not with you here what can be easily solved?

@GooogleDev The site asks for feedback I give it, and I don't need to be a ponce and cuddle up to the owners. Eyesight issues are no joke, you're not funny but rather quite pathetic. be best

Examples with screenshots please and which "eye comfort" service are you using?

It is blurry, also on my laptop, I think with eye protection turn on, on mobile and laptop it is showing blurry.

The New BlackHat World

Don't worry, this isn't another https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/01-01-24-introducing-the-new-black-hat-world.1585341/.

We've been listening, and after reviewing years of feedback for https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/what-would-you-like-to-see-on-the-forum.1393473/post-17584830, or even a "https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/what-would-you-like-to-see-on-the-forum.1393473/page-9#post-16162173" theme as one of you described; we're finally ready to release a completely re-designed and re-imagined BlackHat World.

Are you ready?

----------The Dark Theme: Re-Designed----------
View attachment 339095

Stylish and efficient.

It's been known for years now that BHW's colour scheme was meant to be "black and gold", but the black and yellow bumblebee look of yesteryear took precedence.

Not anymore! With a dark, https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/bhw-new-theme.939264/#post-10033108 https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/forum-desing-is-too-black-my-eyes-getting-tired.361773/ background colour that's easy on the eyes, coupled with the soft golden yellow of the text; you can now browse BlackHat World with the confidence that your friends and family won't think you're on a site that's a little more sultry, if you catch my drift.

But it's more than just a simple colour change. The new dark theme's layout takes advantage of that formerly unutilised empty space from before. We'll give you a quick example: do you see the old user boxes that accompany every post?

That entire image was the user box, including the space between. All of that wasted screen real-estate.

But now, we have a more compact layout for user information. As you can see, member information is easy to view in one central location on each post. There's even a new "pill" feature to highlight a member's user colour status.
With this new compact layout, we're now able to dedicate more of the page to the content you post rather than the void it was before.

This means you'll be able to see more content per page in a way that still gives some attention to the individual poster. After all, the user who posts the content is just as important as the content itself.

----------The Light Theme: Re-Imagined----------
View attachment 339100
The light theme, formerly known as the white theme, has been a source of contention between users for well over a decade. But no longer; this is a gap we needed to bridge.

In order to properly develop a light theme for BlackHat World, we had to find a way to encapsulate that expected darkness of the community in a way that doesn't make it feel like "White Hat World".

This is where you can see the talent of the developers combined with the feedback of the community really shines through. The rich, white chocolatey colouration has a creamy feel to it that's delicious enough to eat; yet is still easy on the eyes.

Naturally, we took the opportunity to re-review design elements that you, the community, have been pointing out for years.

----------A New Logo----------
By now, you've surely noticed that the logo has changed.

Look, there's no denying that the old logo was iconic. In fact, it was the only BHW logo I had ever known having been a member here for over a decade. But we are pleased to unveil this new logo for BlackHat World as this redesign features a modern look with bold colours and clean lines; a look that we feel represents a significant update to our brand identity. Essentially, this new logo communicates who we are today and marks a new chapter for BlackHat World.

This new interface is great. I find it easier to see than the old interface
