Not all subs continue to second month. However having 1k subs is a very big thing in twitch. He will earn more if he switch to Kick though.

Maybe in certain civilized firms where a programmer doesn't mean lifeless cavemen who lost their primitive gps / map after solving similar unsolvable issues in 50 different ways doing that for 8 years 16 hours a day straight (no vacation)

But people give in to easy dopamine, look at statistics of alcohol and porn. It's the same with jobs. People get hooked on certain jobs (especially males) by dopamine pushing problem solving and they can't stop

Years later they realize all those problems are fiction and they're puppets in someone's show just to clown around in front of other clowns. Then some of them become businessmen... Some...

When I wasn't even involved in the internet yet, I had the opportunity to manage a YouTube channel in the fitness niche. I was just a kid; I remember still living with my parents.

At first, the guy didn't even pay me. Later, we agreed on the exorbitant amount of €200 per month for my work, which he often paid me late even. The deal was that basically he would pass me all the raw, unedited content, and I would take care of practically everything else.
When I took over that channel, it had about 4 or 5k followers, and when I disassociated myself from it, it had over 100k.

The thing is, even though I couldn't give specific numbers since that data didn't come to me, I know for a fact that this guy was making similar figures to those mentioned by lukmat, as his main source of income wasn't the "views"; in fact, we didn't even have adsense activated. He did remote workout and diet plans, had physical locations (gyms), and held seminars. We were also looking into launching our own line of supplements, I'm not sure if that last part ever materialized.

In the final period, conversations with him about his concern for earning those amounts without declaring them were becoming more frequent. Additionally, I know he acquired some properties.
There are many people in the shadows making unsuspected amounts considering the size of their audience, not everything is adsense or traditional monetization.

I highly doubt they earn a lot mainly from Adsense. Yes there are Youtubers every month earn a lot just only from Adsense but that is minority. I still feel they are paid from " Sponsors " also selling stuffs which earnings definitely more than adsense. Even come those IM Youtubers. You can see some of their video got ads some don't . Their main selling point is promote affiliate products , sponsors stuff. If their video content got sponsor stuffs , they will not use Adsense of course for their video.

I’m not familiar…. But what’s the reach of twitch as opposed to YouTube?

Many of the game streamers I see market largely on YouTube simply because of the large audience available which I assume equates to equal if not more revenue than twitch. Even if twitches PPS is higher.

It depends a lot on the source of the traffic. If your audience is mostly from top-tier countries like the US, UK, and Australia, then you can earn a lot since CPM is so much higher compared to other countries.
It's not just about the number of viewers you have, but also from which countries they are coming from.

Last weekend I followed one of the YouTubers, the same guy has Twitch.

The game is unpopular, it has only 11,000 subscribers in my country. For comparison, the same game reaches 100,000 subscribers in English-speaking countries.

Out of curiosity, I asked him how much he earns from his YouTube and Twitch channels, where he has 1,050 subscribers paying $4.99 a month. He earns $16,000 a month from Twitch subscriptions and YouTube sponsorships.

Unpopular YouTuber, in a non-English-speaking country, poor subscription results on YouTube, average number of views on YouTube around 10,000 - 15,000 / video.

Still, he is making money on something that is non-obvious and inconspicuous.
As a normal observer, you would never expect a Youtuber with such stats to earn more than $100/month.
