SEO is a roulette now?

No. You are still gonna be outranked by a random comment on reddit.
Never seen that happen on competitive queries where real expertise is needed and if that happens it's usually youtube videos but above that are paid ads. So google promotes their own properties.

And if reddit comment ranks high, then it's a highly upvoted one which of course means it's popular.

You can't just create a random site with some content and rank now.

Google is looking more for "real entities".

That doesn't mean you have a 'brandable domain'. It means you are a genuinely real entity with something unique. They are looking for EEAT.

I see many small sites still doing well, but they're not just faceless blogs. I won't share any here because small ones are too affected by shares, but there's one site for example that's a cat blog..

They are DR 11, with 165 RDs. Started in 2021.

565 pages on ahrefs globally. 236 if you set country to the US.

They sell real products.

They have a water filtering dish, some supplements, brushes.. Total of 16 products.

They also do a grooming kit where they package some stuff together.

They seem to have some other products outside their main shop. Mugs, clothes, laptop sleeve etc. These are obviously just every day objects they've had printed with their branding and cats.

Their brush/cat bowl etc seems to be THEIR OWN. It's got their branding on it. Whether they manufacture this, or just stick a logo on a generic one I don't know. The products look high quality..

They have an affiliate program.

A facebook, instagram and youtube. They actually make some youtube videos. Small channel with 300-600 views per video. Their instagram has 22.8k followers. Their facebook has 4.5k followers.

They are a real business and it's obviously quality. You can see this is not a blog created by a guy looking to MMO, who did some keyword research, hired a writer from a forum and tried to rank.

They have a media kit. They have patents & trademarks.

They have a careers page.

They have a shipping information page.

A refund policy.

Compare this with a typical "cat blog", that just has 100's of low quality AI generated articles or thin human written articles, a privacy policy/terms of service, and some google ads slapped all over the page.

It's not that hard to make some data points and train an AI to detect the higher quality businesses.

Google are in fact not trying to push out small businesses. They're trying to push out thin/useless sites made for search engines, not users.

This business is clearly made for people, not search engines..

Yes, we all want to make money, but you do have to start thinking about making a BUSINESS for people, not a site for search engines.

They will also not be super reliant on google. They'll get a lot of sales through instagram, maybe they run some ads, and they'll have a good email list + word of mouth.

I would say that "make money with SEO" is dead in 2024..

But "supplementing a good business with organic search" is alive and well.

You can still create just a purely informational blog with not much else and rank. And whether your content is AI or human makes ZERO difference. Google don't care, and they're not running detectors. I know, because I'm doing fairly deep research for my own model training, and as part of that research I look for sites under DR 30 that are ranking well, AI sites that are ranking well, and human sites that are ranking well.

What I can tell you about the under DR 30 sites, is almost all of the ones ranking well that I'm seeing have EEAT signals that are apparent to me as a human.

They just LOOK like real businesses.

If you want to rank a purely informational type site you need deep, informative, topically-tight content.

Ie, not a site with 10's of thousands of thin AI generated pages targeting questions, jumping from one topic to another.

But rather, an AI generated site that has longer, deeper, highly factual, dense articles that cover every aspect of every micro-niche within a niche. This still ranks and it ranks VERY well.
agree on that, i had shopify store, with a lots of effort, decent graphics, good user experience, facebook, instagram, tiktok, pinterest all well done, and i had high DA blog, so i decided to give a backlink to my blog post from shopify store, since it DA was also increasing (Reason, i got lucky buying brandable domain for a trending product, i will reveal here since i stopped working on it and it expires today: turbojetshower.com)
guess what instead blog post showing anywhere on serps, i had this shopify product page ranking on 3rd or 4th because of the anchor text, can you imagine, no relevant content, a product page, with this one anchor keyword, and it is ranking.
and i have seen a lot of high brandable sites like this, their tags pages, category pages, very light pages ranking.

Because they have checked and passed Google rating factors, I believe for blogging, google is just pushing them without doing much analysis, as Google knows most of them , 80% have content for search engine not person, only blogs with very high DA and long age, with large social media presence are surviving, so in this case, i agree SEO is dead, and it seems it will remain so.

No... It just means reddit has a special relationship with Google. Nothing to do with quality or votes. Google doesn't care about it.

Similar to youtube all over the place... owned by Google.

Sad thing that even following your guidelines and building a quality guarantees nothing. Its really that random.
At scale where the algorithm has no choice but rank some of your properties / sites? Since it's random, just do more of them, yeah.

I upload the same video 50 times in similar versions and it always ranks few of them.

Ain't no site treat you like a special person cause you're "the businessman". Look how a typical social media / site works.

They only have select posts popular. It's not like every post you post will be top 1. That's impossible these days.

One project / business -> 1000 sites. What's the problem here.

It's zero theory, all experience. I haven't read a single book.

And how is it going? Decent income?
There was a guy on this forum promising something similar... he run away with peoples money :-)

Cleaning toilets as I won't do that type of stuff as I know it's not worth my effort, nerve, health, time, money.

I got better stuff to do than to rank someone's affiliate links on google.

That's the whole point of this discussion.

I can rank myself 1000 videos on auto-mode and I don't even care as that wouldn't yield more than a typical medium salary job ($5k mo).

Now these affiliate SEOs are fighting with legs and hands just to get couple hundred per month blogs.

Edit: when I was 14 it seemed interesting but back then I couldn't understand encryption, engineering or any of that stuff that actually matters for SEO today. Back then SEO seemed like the coolest thing that was actually doable for a teenager. Social media was little when there were 100 popular YTbers. Now? I'm not gonna be living in the past! That's hell! The level of complexity of SEO is that it doesn't make sense as an affiliate job anymore.

I suspect they increased user behaviour and CTR factors weight in rankings. The undisclosed xxxx ranking factors are there in user behavior thing. That's what AI measures I suspect. Google becoming like Yandex lol.

I will continue to deny it, and I'll also continue to make money ranking sites. Best of luck to you.
You don't rank sites. You just sell links to people who think it will help... but very little from now on. You make money on peoples dreams.

Why are you so negative here?

Sarkar's Lady Gaga links didn't get you to rank 1?

Stop spreading misinformation and being a let down for people that actually might want to get into SEO.

SEO isn't going anywhere in a long time. It is just adapting to the current trends - which currently seems to be spammy AI crap and/or poor EEAT sites.

Yeah, i know, wise and respectable Jr. Vips Execs or link sellers will come here now and will tell that , of course, i am wrong. Ok.
I'm an Executive VIP and I've been saying for years that SEO is roulette and reserved only to the rich and programmers :D

And I think it's a roulette by design mostly, but also by google becoming so big that they can't keep their stuff together anymore which, for a google hater like myself, it's good. I want these fuckers gone forever!

The nature of affiliate seo sites is that it's a cycle that never ends.

All you need is profit at scale and profit before next update.

If you can't do it, don't do it.

Nobody is gonna sell you proper links to affiliate sites. These are mostly gonna be public sites that everyone can get a link from.

In eyes of Google your site is not of higher value than random YouTube videos or TikTok links.

Think about SEO once you reach mid 6 figures - 7 figures annum.
yes you are right

Oh no! I bought some crappy PBN (which actually worked for me as planned) Guilty! Thanks for taking time to check my posts :)

Go ahead and adapt... who knows maybe you will build another amazon or reddit. Good luck!

I agree apart from this:
so big that they can't keep their stuff together anymore"

I think they know exactly what they are doing. Look at googles revenue in last years. All they do is milking the system so they can get as much as possible from it. They don't give a sh*~*it about content quality, EEAT blah blah All they care is money, money for them!

Splishsplash and sarkar are not in the same category. One does link rentals for real business, another link spam for Anyone.
I am agree with you. there is hard criteria to participate in his network. I applied and he denied. Sarkar is full with spam link.
