What is a warning and what do warning points mean?

But it's that you still have a history visible to yourself. Now I have a history of many warnings and I didn't get a warning for 2 years which I consider success.

I thought you get banned when you have "11 warnings", then "20 warnings".

Now I think if you have 3 active warnings at the same time you get banned.

Or maybe if you have 12 active points?
12 active warning points results in an automatic ban.

The system is tiered as you can see from your warning history, so if you get a bunch of minor warnings for different things, you won't be banned. However, if you keep violating the same rule in a short span of time, or you're violating major rules (i.e., mod abuse, hacking requests, etc), you'll be banned much faster.

The warning history remains on the account indefinitely.

Can I have 100 warnings non active ones? Sorry if it's annoying or weird question. I'm just wondering if that historic number makes difference over 10 years.
Technically, yes.

Although, if a member did accrue an absurd number of warnings, we would provide them with a final warning informing them that any further rule violation will result in a permanent ban.

Hey, maybe I will create an AI to hold my impulses and analyze my messages and publish this as an addon for blackhatworld. Which may break rules and it would prevent rule breaking. Is that allowed?

Sounds like a great app for emotionally problematic people like some 20 year olds.

It sounds 1000 times better than grammarly. But the idea vs execution...

I would name it "think twice" another day in *black hat* paradise...

Going for a world-record aren't you? ;)
I can't say much but all I'm gonna tell you I made progress since yesterday in numbers that are not wanted and are discussed in this thread.

I had a nice signature. Now I don't have that... :anyway:

I asked about scraping some black hat website... all rejected...

I was trying to influence someone in a spammy way... was a mistake.

I better write that app for myself even if I use that analyzer for myself. It'll make me master of e-mail and polite communication.

Hey @digitalvisibility

Warnings and warning points are two different things when it comes to your account.

Warnings are basically reminders or notes about certain actions or behaviors. They stay in your account history but don’t necessarily affect your ability to participate in the forum.

On the other hand, warning points are tied to specific rule violations. If you collect enough of them, it could lead to temporary restrictions. Since you have zero warning points, your account is in good standing.

Now, about Jr. VIP membership, purchasing Jr. VIP won’t erase the warnings from your account history. These warnings are there for record-keeping purposes and remain regardless of your membership level.

That said, having warnings doesn’t stop you from upgrading to Jr. VIP as long as you meet the requirements, being active for at least 60 days, having 100 quality posts, and paying the $147 membership fee.

If you’ve got a warning, don’t panic! A warning does not mean that you are any less of a member on this forum, but rather a reminder that the BHW rules are there to help you use the forum in line with our terms of use.

The forum rules can be found here. We know its wordy. But if you don’t read them, then don’t say we didn’t warn you! A lot of information about BHW’s rules can be found in the BHW Newbie Guide. The Newbie Guide is a great place to look if you’re not sure whether or not you can post something here and if it’s not covered, then use the search bar to see if someone has posted the question before. If nobody has ever asked it then the Newbie Guide is the place to ask.

If you break a rule, you may get a warning to begin with. If it is a first time offense, the warning will be much lighter and is merely to remind you or inform you of the rules for BHW.

After this, any warnings you receive for the same offense may be harsher. The points given will depend upon the rule you have broken. Once you go over twelve points, then you’ll receive a ban. There are a number of violations which can receive warning points, and there are 3 tiers of warnings: tier 1 for first-time offenses, tier 2 if you've violated the same rule before, and tier 3 which is a final strike that results in a ban. Each tier goes up in points and length respectively.

Posting from an alternate account and/or posting fake reviews will result in 12 warning points and therefore be an immediate ban.

But what do you do when you get a warning?

Well first and foremost - don’t worry about it. Warning points are only visible to yourself and the mods. Nobody else on BHW need know!

Warnings are not permanent - after a set number of months, the warnings will expire and your record will be wiped!

If you have a warning, you are not able to open a new Marketplace thread, but if you already have open Marketplace threads then they will remain open.

If you have any questions about your warning, or believe you have a case for your warning to be lifted early then you can contact support.
For the first warning, how long before the user can be active again?
Please let me know, thanks!

Hi @Salad1501

Warnings are not punishments, they are simply rule reminders to help maintain the quality and integrity of the forum. You can still participate as usual, post, engage in discussions, and use the forum as normal.

The only restriction is that if you are an upgraded member, you won’t be able to start a sales thread until the warning expires. Aside from that, warnings do not limit your activity.

Have a great day ahead.

Hello, I received three minor warnings during my newbie period and would like to know how long it takes for these warnings to expire. My earliest warning was issued on April 25, 2025.
