Google March 2024 Core Update Released: bigger than before!

I have a website that used to get about 30,000 visitors daily. With the update in September 2023, the visitor flow was halved. With the current spam update, it has halved again exactly. Although I understand what I'm writing about on my website, I don't understand how to analyze potential problems. Can someone help me figure out what problem Google has with my website? I've tried to get in touch with agencies, but in my opinion, they're just ripping people off. Even just a tip about what the problem could be would help me avoid disappearing into oblivion...

In my case, the "shadow ban" was due to multiple unedited AI content and/or thin automated spun content on each site. It seems having over X amount of this type of content results in a full shadow ban of the website. Removing the content does not appear to lift the penalty. Perhaps you had lots of low value content?

It may also be to do with backlinks. Most of my surviving sites were the ones with minimal to no BHW backlink campaigns. This would also explain why the penalty remains despite removing the content.

Who knows. A lot of guess work.

* I'm no expert. Just my diagnosis of my particular problem.

Google lost the plot basically... They don't give a shot about smaller publishers.
You are correct... agencies are just full of BS and take money for nothing.

@tom_010101 You probably have a news site if you have 30000 articles. Maybe you don't appear very often on Google news and discover. Many sites have had this problem

That's an interesting point. Most of my sites that kinda survived also has lower amount of links and not from BHW. The ones that I had links from here, even quality ones are all f'cked now.

That is correct. However, Discover & News only accounted for around 20% of total traffic. But there is a lot more traffic that is missing... Welcome to the new world!

Interesting i got two porn site one of them doesn't have any links from BHW and is getting good ranks the other one all backlinks that have is from here and is getting burned by google

Several sites on my end professionally bolstered with organic, high metric, natural backlinks. Seeing nothing but positive movement, surrounded by competitors with negative growth.

Do you have sites that are doing fine with backlinks from other sources or are you only able to compare sites with BHW links vs sites with no active link building?

Sites with low value content, but also have no backlinks or have few backlinks from business citations + guest posts seem to of survived the update.

Sites with multiple BHW backlink packages over the years have been killed.

But, the sites also have thin low value content. So, it's a bit of a guess.

Maybe it's the combination that Google deemed fatal.

After reading some posts here and in other thread already tells me many don't even read Google's guidelines (which have already been updated multiple times) nor understand what exactly were the updates about or even keep track about it.

yeah... keep believing in those BS guidelines haha
Exactly... We know the real motive of Google and their 'updates'.

Even when I read some of the posts, they still give advice like "rewrite your content", "make your content more helpful", or "give more backlinks"... These people obviously don't know how HCU works. Even if they are naive, they don't even know Google's guidelines (but you and me know it is BS).

Worst of all? Many still think Google is all good and 'cares' for users. lol
They need some good lessons and scolding from AngleGrinderBrah and the other folks at roundtable.

P.S: @DanDanger My posts weren't referring to you.

I have an agency and am not ripping people off. Like I mentioned before, we saw gains for most of our clients, and no one had drops. This is even with using AI content, mass pages, purchased links, and link software like SEO Autopilot, SEO NEO, GSA, etc. If you're think agencies are ripping you off you either don't have your expectations set properly or can't afford a decent one.

We havent really got hit that bad, we had 2 newbie sites with lower authority bounce around quite a bit, other than that our other more established sites have been fine. From reading some of your guys posts, it sounds like some of you need to do a link detox/disavow some garbage links.
