Hi have a site that Google is mapping keywords wrong.
Keyword1 links to keyword2 page
and
Keyword2 links to keyword1 page.

What is the solution to this ?

Assign one keyword per page to prevent internal competition.

Conduct thorough on-page optimization, signaling Google clearly about each page's focus.

Optimize meta tags, headings, content, and internal links to reinforce the targeted keyword for maximum visibility and relevance.

Hi MrDenz,

What should I do if Keyword1 is "forklift" and keyword2 is "used forklifts"

Google thinks Keyword1 should rank to other page than the one I assigned to Keyword1

one way to go would be to re-assign them in your data and voila, everything is getting ranked correctly.

How? Could you explain more? Or would you like to share the article link for a guide?

Take a look at the top results, sometimes the top output changes, and it might be necessary to combine these 2 pages into one

Hi Barniboon, sorry but I cant combine those pages since 1 page is new product and other page is used products

In that case, look at how the competition has done it and replicate their success

Most compititors use Google Ads and target their visitors that way. Else they have crap positions on the same keywords and then I wont see them as competitors

In case of products are similar, inter linking can be done to notify which page need to be read for users and for search engine. Meta tags optimizations and backlinks improvements with right keywords should help.

And what if that wont help? I have a 100 score in RankMath for both pages...

Rankmath and other SEO tools have their own set of parameters for SEO improvements on a particular page, Interlinking and backlinks improvements on those keywords have nothing to do Rankmath. Having a 100 score suggests that the page is optimized as per SEO standards but Interlinking and backlinks improvements also can be done for search engines to tell them how these pages need to be read for particular search query/keywords.

Google seems to get confused by similar or overlapping content on your pages. Make sure you're clearly signaling to Google which page is most relevant to each keyword by using accurate anchor text and direct links from the most authoritative pages.

Pay attention to title tags and meta descriptions to make sure they are clear and accurately reflect the content of each page. Sometimes strengthening your target keyword in these elements can help clarify things for Google.

Fix the mix-up by making sure each page talks about the right stuff and links to the right words people are looking for

Do proper on page optimization, content alignment, internal linking, canonical tags, 301 redirects and xml sitemap update

It may be confused to use similar in the same page. So you should signal each page clearly and separately. And make your on-page as clear as possible with clear descriptions for each keyword to help you get a better solution.

Keyword 1 is: Forklift
Keyword 2 is: Used forklift

So the keywords are not the same and I link to both pages internal ?
