Hi
I went with Priority Prospects because of the recommendations on BHW, but I have to say their support is awful. Not the high-class experience I was led to believe, apart from them nickel and diming every little thing.

I am trying to create a private nameserver, which on godaddy requires a hostname first (IP) - I have tried everything and cannot connect and they just keep saying "That's exactly what we suggested. You must create nameservers first and then you assign them to your domain. In Godaddy's terms, the hostname is a nameserver."

Help
How is a hostname the same as a nameserver?
How do I get this to connect - I am probably going to dump this lot as a lost cause otherwise.
Not impressed so far.

I haven't used Priority Prospect. But I am guessing you have received an IP from them?

You will need to first register ns1.yoursite.com and ns2.yoursite.com with the IP provided to you

Then once registered, you can set these nameservers as those of yoursite.com

After going through your support ticket, I can see that our support team provided the correct and fast advice.

We explained to you multiple times that nameservers must be created before you can assign them to your domain. Also, we provided you a link to our knowledge base article: https://support.priorityprospect.com/knowledgebase/article/which-nameservers-i-can-use so you could find links to Godaddy's knowledge base article if you are not sure how to set up your own nameservers.

Can you please explain what exactly was the issue with our support?
Also can you please let me know what exactly we were "nickel and diming"?

Firstly reiterating knowlegebase multiple times is not support.

Secondly it is obvious your support cannot speak english properly.

Thirdly no where did you or your knowledge base explain how to setup a private server. Had to guess most of it.

You can take the feedback or not. I have to say not impressed.

In terms if nickel and diming your website is not upfront about ip charges and other charges. Suddenly not as cheap as others. Never mind the wordpress etc charges.

I wonder how many of thise recommending here are related or affiliates?

So far i would not recommend this site to anyone and your response reinforces that impression.

So I have finally got there.
For those new to this, I will explain what I had to do as it is not apparent, and their documentation leaves much to be desired.

Firstly, when you start, you pay for hosting, which is cheaper than other PBN hosting sites, and I now know why.

After that, you must add domains, which is the first battle. You have to buy IP addresses for each domain, so if there are ten domains, that's another 30-40 euros per month - suddenly not looking so cheap anymore.

Adding the domains was challenging, to say the least. You can change the A record, but I wanted the domains to sit together in the PBN for safety and to make it easier to change things. Bear in mind this is done to make my life easier!

Firstly, they use nameservers and hostnames interchangeably in their communications, which is incorrect. Maybe because of poor English or support not understanding.

If you are using Godaddy, they want the hostname changed first, which is just a redirection to the IP address, but the hostname can be anything but usually is ns1 and ns2.

Then you can change the nameservers to ns1.yourdomain and ns2.yourdomain.

Then you have your private nameserver.

So far excluding domains the cost is 40 euros per month for 10 domains.

Priority Prospect offers two distinct services. One service is an IP address rental service. The second service is shared hosting.

Our shared hosting service is a traditional high performance cPanel shared hosting service. You are welcome to use it like any other shared hosting service you can find on the market.

You can use our IP addresses without using our shared hosting service.

After signing up, you received an email, "Welcome to Priority Prospect!" (2024/02/06 16:18:20 UTC). Inside the email, we provided a link for you to our Getting Started article. You can find it here: http://support.priorityprospect.com/knowledgebase/article/getting-started-with-priority-prospect

We created this article with the intention of helping new customers get started with our service, and inside, in the very first section, we have explained that you can use our shared hosting service or your own hosting account if you wish.

This information is also written on our IP address service page under the FAQ:

Do you offer hosting with your IP addresses?
IP addresses do not come with hosting. You are able to point our IP addresses to any hosting service on the market.

IP address prices are also as transparent as possible. On the IP addresses service page on our website, you can find "Shared IP Addresses starting from $2.30/month" and "Dedicated IP Addresses starting from $2.89/month" which is correct. The cheapest dedicated IP addresses have a price of $2.89 per month and shared IP addresses have a price of $2.30 per month.

Our IP address order form clearly lists all prices and you can decide which IP addresses you wish to order and for what price. There are no hidden costs, and all prices are presented to you before you place an order.

Never mind the wordpress etc charges.

We want to clarify that installing WordPress is free no matter how you use our service or services.

Firstly, they use nameservers and hostnames interchangeably in their communications, which is incorrect.

The industry standard word for what you tried to create is a nameserver or name server. Some registrars use the term "hostname" (like Godaddy), some use nameserver (Namebright, Dynadot, Namecheap, Porkbun, Namesilo, Hover, Name.com, Domain.com.. just to name a few)

Here's a sample from Namecheap: https://www.namecheap.com/support/k...-register-personal-nameservers-for-my-domain/

Then you have your private nameserver.

This is how creating private nameservers works and it works the same way with other registrars.

With every registrar, you must create private nameservers first and then assign them to your domain. If you want to use your own nameservers, that's what you must do.

reiterating knowlegebase multiple times is not support.

We can only provide support for our services. While we are always happy to help our customers with questions about external services, there's a limit to how much support we can provide for external services.

Secondly it is obvious your support cannot speak english properly.
Maybe because of poor English or support not understanding.

We take the quality of customer support very seriously. To help us understand your feedback better, could you please share a sample from your ticket where you felt the English was hard to understand?

We hope you got all your issues addressed. Let us know if you need further help.

Well, that’s very disingenuous.

The link you have provided says: “Now that you have your hosting set, it's time to create an IP address group and a domain group. As their names describe, one group is meant for IP addresses, and another one is for your domains. Each of those groups serves a different purpose and makes managing everything very easy. If you need to manage IP addresses, you do that from IP address groups. If you need to manage your domains, you do that from domain groups. There's no limit to how many IP addresses or domain groups you can create. The goal of them is to keep your setup nicely organized."

Also, the site does not allow domains to be added until the IP addresses have been bought.

I am unimpressed by the service so far and certainly by the responses given, which are either completely disingenuous or worse do not understand what you are selling.

We are sorry that you feel like our response has been disingenuous. Everything we wrote in the previous reply was sincere and accurate.

We have been offering IP addresses since 2016, and you can rest assured that we understand our service very well and can provide more information if you need any.

Yes, that is how our IP address rental service works. You need to have IP addresses before adding a domain to the system. Without an IP address, the domain will not do anything.

Here's a wonderful article by Cloudflare about what DNS is and how it works: https://www.cloudflare.com/learning/dns/what-is-dns/

Once you have IP addresses, you can add a domain to the system. Then, you point your domain to the IP address by editing the DNS zone if you use an external DNS service, or you create nameservers and point them to the IP address you set up for your domain in our system.

Now that the domain points to the assigned IP address, your website's traffic will flow through our network and to your hosting account. As we mentioned earlier, the hosting account can be hosted with us, or it can be hosted with any other hosting service provider you like.

This is a simple overview of how our IP address service works.

If you need any more information, please let us know.

I have tried to cancel, and guess what? You can't cancel - you have to submit a cancellation request!
I should not be surprised
So far the tally is over 40 euros for a month, where I only managed to activate 3 domains.
This was an expensive mistake, and I would not recommend it, especially with the awful documentation and awful support.

I have gone for pbn.hosting, which is much cheaper and easier to organise. Already have 10 domains uploaded and active within a few hours.

I tried another pbn hosting company but they were not responsive.

I can only surmise that all these glowing reviews are from affiliates and/or relations.

Credit where credit is due

He has given me a full refund, which is very kind of him.

Submitting a cancellation request is a standard way in the hosting industry to cancel the service. We have made it very simple. All you need to do is click on the "Cancel Order" button in your order view.

Our service works a bit differently from regular hosting services because we rent IP addresses, and we are not a hosting service that offers precreated nameservers. Your hosting account and IP addresses were activated instantly after your payment, and all left for you to do was point your domains to assigned IP addresses. It would have been as easy as updating A records of the DNS zone at your DNS host or creating nameservers and assigning them to the domain. That's also what our support suggested you to do.

We have gone ahead and processed your cancellation requests. Also, a full refund has been provided to you, and you should see it on your account soon.

We wish you the best of luck with the new host!
