Manual action for 'unnatural links'

First time for everything. :)

There are questionable links in the profile when this happens for sure.

Either built by them or an effective neg-SEO attack.

"I never bought a link." + "I'm adding thousands of spam links to disavow file." are not looking good together.

funny how he's never built a single link but he's "done" 5 guest posts some time ago... Some people I swear to God, don't have a clue about SEO but they're very upset when they're penalized...

Anyway, to your question: I did see a couple of cases of manual penalties for link building, but that was a long ago (10-11 years??), so I know it's possible

It's possible there are more than 5.
Possible?

Vegas has odds that indicate that it is a given.

I don't think that site is a good example of an issue as it does seem the owner is a little misguided.

Most of the people in the SEO game has this weird victim mentality.

When they're hit, they suddenly gave all sorts of weird reasons.

"My content is 100% well written."
"I never did any blackhat techniques."

Like this niche guy says he has never built a backlink... but then says he did have some few years ago and has to "disavow thousands of spam links".

And if you read his other tweets, he has posted about his AI content experiments and whatnot. Obviously engaged in some blackhat techniques and got caught but now playing the victim.

The lady claims to be doing SEO since 2008, so I am not surprise if she did some oldschool BH tactic.

To be fair, the manual review process is BS also, Google giving too much power to a few reviewers that determine the livelihood of a website.

I'm surprise the Niche Site Lady on X didn't built a single backlink in last 8 years!!!
What's the use of the site if you don't built new backlinks every single day!

Dont wanna defend that girl as i dont know. But i have found her main site and i know she is making +$10k/month with her main travel blog.

Not to mention other niche sites she has.

I wouldnt say she hasnt any clue about SEO lol

Again dont want to defend her but if you read her posts. She used AI on other blogs she had, not on this main that got penalized.

And im sure she has done some linkbuilding-guest posts in the past.

ok, you have a point and I'll stand corrected as I just superficially went through that tweet...

But there are people who don't know SEO but act surprised when they're penalized, so this point stands too :)

We have heard this many times but its the first time i see this happening.

Its not my site but a legit source from twitter!

What are your thoughts about this?
If you haven't gotten at least one 'Unnatural links' manual action in your time, can you really say you're a proper BHer?
A 'Pure Spam' one is even better :)

Niche Site Lady should take it as a badge of honour, and stop lying about buying links.

TBH I have been building links constantly on every website I own (On most of my Clients' websites too) for many years and never had a manual action that's why I was surprised to see this.

Not spam links but guest posts, niche edits, and PRs.

Exactly, these manual actions are really hard to get IMO. Which means the X poster isn't giving the whole story.

Maybe. Another reason is these gurus show off a lot on Twitter lol.

And Mr g00gle hunts them

Manual actions for unnatural links are usually a red flag that the site's backlink profile isn't organic. Audit the backlink profile and identify the sketchy links.

She is from Google guys...

They want you to scare you because links ARE the ranking factor!
