There are some differences between them that i know:
- Buying on cryptocurrency exchanges is Bitcoin, buying ETFs is a security backed by Bitcoin.
- If you buy Bitcoin on crypto exchanges, it's your Bitcoin and you can send it to someone else or move it to your personal wallet.
- If you buy ETFs then you can only sell and take money, you won't be able to take that Bitcoin to move or store.
- Buying or leaving ETFs on the exchange, if you have any problems, you can contact the stock exchange. If you hold your own Bitcoin, you must handle it yourself and take responsibility for any issues.
- Fees on exchanges are transaction fees, meaning buying and selling fees, so it's higher when you buy Bitcoin. The ETF's fee is a management fee, meaning that if you don't buy and sell, you still have an annual fee, so it will be lower.
