There are some differences between them that i know:
  • Buying on cryptocurrency exchanges is Bitcoin, buying ETFs is a security backed by Bitcoin.
  • If you buy Bitcoin on crypto exchanges, it's your Bitcoin and you can send it to someone else or move it to your personal wallet.
  • If you buy ETFs then you can only sell and take money, you won't be able to take that Bitcoin to move or store.
  • Buying or leaving ETFs on the exchange, if you have any problems, you can contact the stock exchange. If you hold your own Bitcoin, you must handle it yourself and take responsibility for any issues.
  • Fees on exchanges are transaction fees, meaning buying and selling fees, so it's higher when you buy Bitcoin. The ETF's fee is a management fee, meaning that if you don't buy and sell, you still have an annual fee, so it will be lower.
Please consider carefully before choosing. If you hodl for the long-term, buying Bitcoin directly will still be more profitable.

Personally, bitcoin is more suited for me. It will be hard to use ETF for buying online services like hosting and domains which marketers like us need frequently.

The whole point of bitcoin is “being your own bank” so from my perspective having any 3rd party hold your asset goes against the whole idea of decentralized finance. I’m holding BTC in my cold wallet.

That being said I can understand the older generation, who might not be as tech savvy to feel more comfortable holding the ETF. I’m glad there’s an option, BTC should be accessible to everyone.

yes, people investing in ETFs will need to understand more about technology

both are good the problem is that people want to move BTC no keep it store, that is what I think but being honest never thought about those pros and cons I just saw it for convenience, the easy way.

Let's zoom out for a second and remember why Bitcoin was created: it's decentralized money, free from traditional financial control. You can send Bitcoin anywhere in the world, fast and cheap.

Does an ETF offer that? Nope!

I would stick with BTC, holding self-custody of my own private keys every single day.

depend on your financial goals. Bitcoin directly involves owning the cryptocurrency, while Bitcoin Spot ETFs offer exposure through a fund. both options, consider your investment strategy, ...

Buying bitcoin has more advantages like it can be done without any paperwork and selling is also instant on mobile itself.

sure bro, I will consider carefully when investing

I respect your choice bro

I'm not an American so I don't know much about it, sorry.
