Hmm... my newely created article on livepositively.com appears to be noindex and nofollow, with all links in article tagged ugc and nofollow, despite setting them all to do follow in the editor.

I can see other articles on the site though where this isn't the case.

Have I missed something? ...or are new articles from new accounts noindex and nofollow for a while initially?

Yes, IKR. They don't even see the latest 3-4 comments before saying thank you or giving a conclusion.

Take @solar44 for example. If he had read the last comment which was yours, he would have come to know that the link shared by OP is nofollow and noindex and anyone should not bother placing a link over there, wasting our precious time.

It takes a few seconds to know what's working and what's not. If someone has shared a guide, I would like to know what other people are talking about it. Before taking anyone's advice or following a guide.

I don't want to be unnecessarily rude, but I have seen lots of people here who don't use common sense and don't do their due diligence.

I disagree, no follow links can have their value as well. Maybe not in serps, but if you have for instance a no follow link that brings in traffic...
