I hope everybody’s doing well. A while ago it was a better idea to upload shorts than long videos to increase subscribers quickly. Are shorts still the way to go?

One thing about this is that if you re uploading shorts and you re getting subs to your shorts, the long-form video will have a hard time getting view-time. I suggest you focus on what you need:

ex:

a. You need subs who will watch long-ass videos, then focus on videos.
b. Subs who consume short content -> focus on shorts.

You can combine both but i dont suggest as per my tests in the past 1-2 years it's terrible to do both unless you re well established. (over 200k subs, etc)
