New SEO here... Well 2 years into my SEO journey but mostly focused on semantic writing so far.

It seems there's a lot of changes happening in the industry, especially with AI taking over much of the content on the internet.

Are you guys using AI or human generate content mostly? What skills are you investing in now to get ahead in SEO over the next 5 to 10 years? I'm starting to focus on web development myself to add an accompanying skillset.

Cheers and looking forward to growing with everyone involved here!

I think it's gone up a notch or 7 in terms of difficulty, although it's far from dead. But it's much more insane for new people to get in or people who can't keep up. It's a lot of work and it's not always going to be worth it as a quick buck anymore and hasn't been for a while in most cases. At least in a traditional sense, and for content specifically.

But SEO in other industries is still going strong. Like software and other non-content-focused niches. You can still utilize AI here as well for an advantage (although it's going to be a short-lived one so get on it).

At the end of every year, I hear this loud sound of SEO expiration. No, it's immortal
Thanks for the positive words. I feel like if the internet keeps growing with more users, we're not dying anytime soon. Harder yes, but still worth it with the right approach.

Yep.
SEO has been dead since 2011

But seriously,
I couldn't care less about AI sites 'killing SEO' and neither should you.
They might work for a short time, but they always plummet. At least from what I've seen.

They get penalized a lot, lose their authority in the process and thus won't outrank your blog that has been up since 2015 or so.

AI make the thing more easy you can call it SEO next level just if you use it as SEO guy ,not just like any guy who don't know anything about that SEO things

SEO has been dead for over 10 years now.... have been hearing it since ages... every year some newbies/experience guy come and ask the same question.... it will die again next year too...... :)

All previous updates are clear and Seoer has ways to not violate Google policies.

But currently with core and HCU (Helpfull Content Update) updates, we do not have a way to overcome it. Therefore, you should not do SEO at the present time. It's very risky.

Even if you use content that is 100% written by humans and does not violate any policies, your website can still be taken down.

seo has been dead since 2935 before christ
bingo!

just make a quick google search and filter the results back in 2011+ and you'll see common statements/questions,
as long as there's traffic to get, SEO is not going anywhere ;)

SEO will be dead until Google Dead. It just has been more difficult year after year, costs SEOer more energy and time with specialized SEO strategies, including higher quality content, inter links, higher quality backlinks.
Longer time for new site to get Rank and Authority in Google.

As long as there are search engines to optimize for, there will be SEO. As long as there are variables in an algorithm that are effected by user input (webpage content) and external citations (backlinks), there will be ways to game it.
