I wanted to get the pulse from the community on how everyone feels about the changes coming to HARO into the new Connectively platform at the end of December '23.

I am personally frustrated, but curious if there is a reason people think I shouldn't be.

They're going the way of Qwoted, Terkel and other places. They'll make money, and things will be more expensive for me but that's not the worst part.

There aren't as many restrictions on publishers, and so many scam the system. They just get tons of responses and use those to add credibility to their sites (especially if they have multiple postings). Also they don't have to give a link, or if they do, it could be a no follow, which they can remove later.

So its terrible.

But you still shouldn't stop. Because there are a couple of things which can still work in my favour.

1) This is one way to curb AI generated spam, so now I'm competing against people with some skin in the game. So now, you have to be a better writer, already have credentials, and already have some bylines/media sources in place. So if you're already got some, you're far ahead.
2) This makes real HARO and digital PR more valuable. So instead of just responding to queries, you have to follow journalists, you have to pitch stories to them, you have to find the right data to backup your stories and so forth.
3) You then use those stories to increase EEAT, by sharing those on social media, writing about those stories and expand on them on your own sites. This helps indexing.

So be good at what you do, and then you don't have to worry as much. Still a cheap way to get good links, or at least good mentions that you can use in multiple ways. :smirk:

On one hand, HARO's always been a solid source for quality backlinks and press mentions. But, this transition? It's a bit of a gamble. They're likely aiming for a more streamlined, user-friendly experience, but the big question is how this will impact the quality and relevance of opportunities.

The links from HARO are really high quality, but they are hard to get for regular users. I've been answering questions, giving recommendations and travel tips for a month but never got the link I wanted on my website and social media profile. After a month of trying, I gave up. Maybe I missed something.

Show me your pitches! I'm confident I can help! I've won so many links

Everyone always says HARO links are so great but every time I look at the prices I am put off. Can anyone share a link they got from them and tell me how much it cost?

For HARO, I think the prices on HAF and the services are a tiny bit high but they'll only get higher in the future since they'll be charging per response sent.
