I am not looking for 1000s of backlinks, but a steady increase without getting big G's attention.

Thanks for the offer, but I have a few questions regarding directory links. This is not to put you on the spot, but just to gather info. before I jump into it again.

How many stick or get accepted on average. Have you ever gone back to see what the acceptance rate is?

I have paid for over 500 directory submission from others and found a very low percentage stick. Even though I received notice from the directory that they received the submission. And yes there are similar websites listed in their directory to mine, but mine did not go through? Maybe you can help here.

You may be partially right but a newbie here might be an old expert on his field.

I am a newbie here but already worked as a SEO when the term "Google" still didn't exist and I am a senior member in lots of other forums.
So if you conclude that "newbie here" equals "newbie everywhere" you should revise your argument.
