I lead a SaaS company, and we've been actively creating our blog content for several months.

I've been contemplating the idea of acquiring backlinks to boost our Domain Authority (DA) and Authority Score (AS).

However, I've had concerns about potential penalties from Google. If such penalties occur, I'm curious about the recovery time.

In addition, what precautions can we take to buy backlinks without facing repercussions from Google?

And, if we explore services for AS and DR building, are there reputable providers you recommend?

If you do get a majority of your links through link swaps and purchases and manage to get your AS + DR high => Which in turn leads to more traffic.

Then you have 2 scenarios

1) Links get devalued, so then your traffic which comes as a result of those links vanishes. Are you okay with that? Do you have the stomach or budget for that? If they do get devalued - what then? Will you buy more links that will work quickly, but again, there's a chance those can get devalued too. Then the cycle continues

2) Your site gets penalized (rare but hey it happens). If it does, then what? You have no organic search traffic at all, what would you do? Would you be okay with that? What happens then?

How about doing things slightly differently - white hat methods + black hat methods together. Less chance of it going bad, and if you've made your money by then, then who cares?

Penalties as a result of link acquisition are actually rare. You must be doing something terribly wrong for Google to penalize you for acquiring links.

Most websites today actively acquire through one means or the other. Your competitor you hope to displace are already doing it.

To be on a safer side, buy natural looking links from different variety of websites. Let the most important ones that should power your site be contextual links.

An important tip is to spread the links from home page to innner pages. If all links point to the homepage alone, that's a red flag.

Also ensure to buy some foundational diversity links. You want your backlinks profile to look as natural as possible.
