Ever since we switched off from Imgur and Forum started to host media here, the quality has suffered a lot.

I know that the max size is 2 MB but no matter which sort of file you upload, the system either compresses the file or creates a low-quality version out of it.

This looks awful, it's painful to look at my sales threads. It makes it so unprofessional and blurry and the images are resized automatically.

What is the solution?

same they ripped of the quality of thread images , I am concerned as well

@INCC, can you provide a link to a media image that you believe was compressed by the system, and provide a Mediafire link to the original uncompressed image.

One possibility off the top of my head is that you might be grabbing the wrong media link after uploading it to BHW Media, but we'll need to check this over in more detail before confirming this as a potential issue.

Please check the thread below:

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/b...possibly-the-best-orm-service-on-bhw.1456618/
Check the front page BST feedback that my customers have left me for me services. (The main sales thread on page 1)

You can see the sizing issue and how the smaller size images are blurred. Blur that text a little bit more and it becomes unreadable.

There are reviews that have been added there prior to the Imgur ban.. those reviews look fine and the text is readable, no blurs whatsoever.

Check the 2 last reviews from @praetserge - Those look fine as they were added before.. now try to read those other ones, the white text is basically blurred.

All those images/reviews uploaded after BHW started to host their media, the quality immediately dropped, it's awful to look at them.

I have brought this up before.. On Fri, 2 Jun at 4:10 PM - Via helpdesk.

I sent the images to the moderator, they sent them back to me and it was the same low-quality file that I got .. And they said that there isn't anything that can be done.

and provide a Mediafire link to the original uncompressed image.
If you want me to still go through with the Mediafire then let me know and I will do it.

Thanks

No need, let me have the team look at this and see what's going on.

Thank you for opening this thread and bringing this to our attention.

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you.

So, unless I'm losing my mind staring at this, I think I've figured it out.

So the problem was not specifically with BHW Media, but rather, something happened to cause an artificial width and height to be set on those first images. You can see this in the BBcode in the screenshot below.

Actually, using that image above, I can demonstrate it for you here.

So, same image as before, but I artificially adjusted the width and height.

More specifically, it happens when you adjust the image using the WYSIWYG editor. You know, this little box at the corner of the image.

Does this make sense and is this the issue you're experiencing? I've also adjusted the first review images in your BST so that the width/height are back their default values.

Let me know if I got this wrong and I'll keep looking the issue for you.

I don't know how to respond to this as I see no difference in my sales thread and the first review in my sales thread has the same width and height as it had before.

I think you had some error in there too because there are naked links now in the thread instead, please check the image below:

imgimg.jpg

Also, this is a site-wide issue that applies to all the sellers who are adding new "feedback" to their BSTs.

Here is another one that I found:

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/g...f-on-the-first-model-for-bhw-members.1531590/
All their 4 feedback images are blurred.

Thanks

So sorry about that, my errors were a space in the IMG tag; it was "[IMG ]" instead of ". I fixed that just now.

Very interesting. I took a look at the BBcode, and check this out:

Same thing as before: forced height and widths.

I applied the same edit to those images in that thread as I did for your BBcode, keeping in mind the mistake I made last time. Can you check that thread as well and confirm that my eyes aren't just playing tricks on me?

Thanks for helping me work through this issue.

Unfortunately that issue still persists in their thread too. The sizes are not correct and the text is still blurry.

I think this can already happen when you upload the file to BHW so it automatically somehow compresses it, not sure but that's my guess.

A good way for you to tell if the quality and size is correct is to compare 2 reviews in my thread where one of them was uploaded prior the migration from Imgur and then after the migration. (3 last customer feedback in my thread are from prior migration)

Notice the review/media sizes and the quality of the text content. One of them is much worse quality than the other but you can only see that if you visit my thread because the upload below blurs again everything but I tried to make it easy to understand so check the screen below:

Resize images before uploading to control display size and quality.

We already tried everything from resizing to file quality to PNG this isn't working. This isn't an issue that only one member has.

This was the first thing that the moderator suggested months ago and they tried to resize the images themselves without luck.

Please let the mods do the work and let us not post unnecessary information here so as not to clog it with different solutions as @Zwielicht is more than capable of figuring it out too.

It's like the ones with the tags are the ones getting automatically compressed. Removing the tags doesn't uncompress the images, of course. I was mixing the issue up with some old WordPress plugin that did a similar thing years ago to me.

All right, I think we have what we need here. I'll leave this open in case we need any more information.

Nice freaking work on this, @INCC! Very impressed!

@INCC, we think we have an idea of what's causing the issue, but we need your help if you have the time.

Could you please e-mail [email protected] the following:
  • The original, uncompressed image file.
  • A link to the thread that has the compressed image file.

10 minutes and I am on it.

Firstly @INCC Thanks for engaging in the support ticket that was really helpful. Support is the best place to engage where there is an issue specific to you.

For clarity, the original file that was uploaded was 1573px wide. Whereas our max recommended upload image width for marketplace threads is 1158 px as mentioned here https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/h...s-thread-edit-requests.1500416/#post-16421888

When you upload an image size that is larger than our recommended size we compress and resize the image resulting in a 20-30% compression from the original to make it fit into our guidance formats. If the image you upload fits within the guidelines (ie is less than 1158px wide) then there won't be any adjustments applied.

Something we can do our side is provide clearer error messaging which we will be looking into going forward, but essentially if you follow the guide above then there won't be any any manipulation server side of your images and the quality will remain as is.

Asked - "When will the media quality be fixed"
Answered - It's not broken - follow the guidance and the image quality will display as designed.
