Despite Meta's subscription plans, the EDPB decides to comply with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority's request to stop all data collection related to targeted ads.

In a recent decision, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) announces that Meta must stop all targeted advertising on the Facebook and Instagram platforms. The ban applies not only to the EU, but to all 30 countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) and must be enforced by the Irish data protection authority in two weeks at the latest.

Does that mean the EU is eliminating the FB platform?

Interesting to see what will Meta do as a response.

Wondering if they could consider 'threatening' to leave Europe all together like Musk did last month.

Facebook users will love this, but businesses that want to run ads won't:/ Customers in the EU are always very potential, but what do we do when we can't set a target and pray to God to be reached?

This a bad news for both users and business.

As a user I like to see relevant ads. When I am looking for something I just share similar stuff and then see relevant ads. I bought a nice vacation holiday at 80% discount.

As a business I want to target people who are interested in my business.

Do you really believe

1. Fb will stop ads or data collection?
2. It is better for you to see non relevant ads?
3. It is better for you to get 10x ad cost?

Stay tuned to see how Meta responds... perhaps this is bad news for businesses

Best threat is to stop instagram and Facebook completely from Europe so people will react to get back ads

Will it affect their revenue?

On TikTok I don't segment anything, I just set the algorithm to do everything itself and it works very well... the ultra-segmentation of trying to segment people who are 18-20 years old, have a spot on their left thigh and two rottweillers hasn't worked for years now
