Phrase Match vs. Aged Domain when having only little Budget

A bit background information to my question.

I found a database and want to use that to create a website. Many keywords would be as example: "How tall is xxx".

Would it be better the get a phrase match or even exact match domain like "howtallis.com" or should I rather go for a aged domain that ranked for such keywords?

I have had some bad luck with expired domains, some of them didn't rank and there were no apparent flags that I could find. So for me, I would just buy a new domain or an existing site.

Not necessarily, mate. The worth of an aged domain isn’t purely in its age but in its relevant link profile and clean history. Even a domain that's been dormant for a year could offer value if it has quality, niche-relevant backlinks and a clean slate with Google (no penalties).

I found one free domain that ranked for a few keywords in a shoulder niche the last 12 months.

Don't make the mistake of going with the exact phrase match domain. I have tried this previous year and Google doesn't care. You should go with the aged domain if it has a good backlink profile.

Anchor text over usage is textbook definition of spammy link building. If you want to go far, go easy on the anchor.
