Pretty strange,
I usually go with Debian, aapanel, OLS server side,
With WP rocket & good theme and I'll end up with pretty fast website

I set up even better stuff for speed:
Litespeed web server + cyberpanel + cloudflare + perfmatters + litespeed web cache plugin i cloudflare super page cache, on top of that i always use light themes and manage to reach instant loads, but contabo us just so shit, but at least they offer refunds properly

You should invest in your knowledge and try to work as much as possible to your limites, you won't need to care about 20-100$ wasted

Hetzner + Cloudpanel will give you 100%speed without any cache plugin.

I am using contabo for years now. The only reason why I used their service is that their servers have DDOS protection. I usually get attacked by competitors, when I used their service, attacks were always mitigated without spending a lot of money in cloudflare WAF. If you find better VPS with DDOS protection, please lemme know. Thanks

They are such a joke. My uncle bought their hosting + domain. He has one website for his company and I am managing it. One day, Contabo suspended the hosting account because someone sent too many spam emails to my uncle's business email address. They then asked for 30€ to reactivate the hosting. Never experienced anything like this

You get what you pay for. Contabo massively over provision so you think you're getting certain size of machine but since it's virtually allocated and the physical hardware is massively over allocated then you keep fighting with others for the computing resources.

And yes bad customer service is likely because they're keeping in lean and cheap.

Go with Hetzner or OVH instead I would say.

Yeah Contabo is pretty bad. I have currently another VPS at pq.hosting and they are equally bad. One of the slowest VPS I have ever had, it's ridicolous.
