One sentence answer and link is the perfect recipe to get your answer collapsed. People now understand what's going on, they just downvote such answers. You'll have to write helpful answers so that people feel you actually know what you're talking about and then visit your link to read more.

Yeah Quora is awesome for this and can lead to a lot of impressions and traffic. A lot of people do this. If you see a lot of answers on Quora, almost always, they’re linking somewhere.
