Sign on a telephone poll....

I have been told that this is a major free way to get it.

However, I haven't had the balls to do it myself... on the way to my local freeway onramp there are quiet a few signs up, ranging from "executive income- don't believe don't call" to "brazilian jujitsu" to "business cards" to "bridal show convention" and all kinds of misc stuff...

I want to randomly call one and ask 2 separate things:

Did you think you could just put a sign up with out the city code enforcement calling you?

and

How much traffic / results did you get from your sign?

There seems to be 2 kinds of signs which work best: The lawn sign, which goes on grassy areas in between the curb and sidewalk, facing oncoming traffic. And the Telephone Pole Garage Sale type sign.

Turns out certain color combos work best, with black on yellow being best, with neon coming in 2nd 3rd and 4th.....

Oh one more thing.. they seem to stay up for a good 2 to 2 1/2 weeks at a time before the city or someone else takes them down....

Different areas have different rules but they do work real well.

Note:

Most cities don't allow these signs. So don't use your real information. Get a Tracfone for a few bucks, have the people call that number. If you use your real information the city may look you up and fine you for each sign.

Be careful with bandit signs. There are also Anto-bandit sign people out there who cut signs in half .. just to let you know they are watching you.

Don't hang them in neighborhoods. (would you want a bunch of signs in your living area?)

They DO work. I used them in the past, I paid a girl I hired from CL $75 to hang up 25 signs.

Dude - you overpaid... I use them every weekend and pay a guy 1.00 per sign. I also have him take pictures of each sign placed and give me the locations on an excel spreadsheet.

He also came from CL.

My volume is a little higher, I put out 50 signs every Friday evening.

They absolutely do work for my stuff.

Bandit signs work great. I've made a lot of money off of them in different businesses. Here's some tips:

1. Use HANDWRITTEN signs. They work more than ten times better. A couple of years ago I split tested this and the pre-printed signs were almost a waste of money.

2. Only post on wood poles with nails, otherwise they'll get pulled down quickly.

3. If you really want them to stick (not to mention be more visible) get a step ladder and put them up as high as possible. When I've done this I've had signs stay up for more than a year in some places.

4. If you live in a bigger area, the best place to put them is the interstate on and off ramps.

5. Phone numbers do convert better than websites on these.

In most places this is illegal, so just use a prepaid phone or something. I had a friend once who would get called by the police and he'd tell them that he was getting pranked by local teenagers and they always let it go. They have to prove that you put them up. I always just hang up. Another friend of mine is always honest about it and just shows up to court and pays the fine and then does it again, to her it's just a cost of doing business.

These sound like great ideas, but I dont get how youre converting from a phone call to a prepaid phone? When they call what do you do? Im trying to get into some different things now also, and would like something like this. Got some debts I need to pay off quickly, and this sounds like it would work great for some good income

First off, on bandit signs I learned quickly not to answer the phone, to just let it ring to voicemail (I usually used a Skype number and after the first few times doing this I would just not forward the number to a phone). When I was answering I got a lot of time wasters, people who couldn't really talk or pay attention because they were in the car having just seen the sign, and I didn't like cops calling. With voicemail the cops would always leave messages letting you know why they were calling so I just wouldn't call them back and I was able to weed out the time wasters and people calling to see if the signs really worked. Also, once I got really into using the signs I had some days where I'd get around 100 calls, so it's just not feasible to have the phone ring 100 times a day.

How you convert them depends on what you're trying to convert them to. You can have them leave a phone number to call them back, leave their address so you can mail them something, or give them a website to visit in your message. Without more information on what it is you're promoting I can't really intelligently answer your question .

Nobody remembers anything... they call as they are driving right on the spot.

i would do a phone to voicemail with a pre recorded message going to my website/cpa offer , thats it, i dont want to talk to people. , i see them all over long island , queens and brooklyn not so much in manhattan, manhattans more paper fliiers taped to a phone pole or phone

What I am doing now is looking for other offers to exploit with my signs. I am able to put out over 100 a week. I live in a central location so I will be hitting up 2 other cities that surround me also. I am trying to figure out how to make this work with fre email submits. For awhile I was thinking it is not worth it, but because I get my 18x24 plasitc signs for .40 per sign (family business can't share this info) I figure email submits will work if my voicemail directs them the right way.

I have found that if you place these signs high and at intersections, you have the potential that 300-500 eyes can see that one sign everyday. Depending on the sign location, even more! You place out over 500 signs, half will be taken down. Its part of the game. The other 250 are getting viewers, so if you get 300 viewers on each sign per day, thats 250 x 300 = 75000 viewers a day. With an email submit with incentives, I think it may be worth a shot.

Some cpa I had good luck with in the past using bandit signs. "we buy Gold", and "we buy engagement rings". Also cpa leads for any kind of contractors, plumbers, fencers, that kind of thing. Throw away phone, voice mail that directs callers to simple site, cpa lead form. That's it. Solar installs were paying like $5 a lead as of last November.
