Hello BHW !

I usually never post here, but this time it's necessary...
Ebay turned to a big scam ! Yes, you read correctly, a scam !

Explanation :
I used to be a seller on Ebay since 10+ years with a pretty good activity, thousand of happy customers, hundred of positive reviews, all was perfect !
It was a classic resell business : Buy from china, receive in my storage location, resell without long shipping delay. Dead simple.

But, recently, Ebay deleted my ads, blocked my account, and the worst : they took money from my customers in their pocket, and never sent me their contact !

Result :
Dozen of negative evaluations. (try to sell after that...)
2K€+ to refund to my customers who contacted me (money from my pocket !!).
10+ customers scamed by Ebay.
Several reports to "signal-arnaques" (a french gov website to report scams).
1 complaint to police ! (I refunded 2x this client amicably to retract the complain, obviously from my pocket).
Ebay keep the money, and they pretend to never have received this money ! Easy 2K€+ for them !

My business completely destroyed....

Now, we are several month after that, I created a new business, and I tried to create a new Ebay account for this new activity, with a new profile (so dumb lol).
The same day, Ebay contacted me to threaten me !!! They tell me that they will destroy my new business (wtf ?!), and deleted my ads, blocked my account, again.
The support who used to be almost perfect in the past, is not polite, threatening, and almost insulting... nothing serious...

I don't know what happened but they completely went crazy at Ebay.
Notice: At first, I believed that is was a fake Ebay support, but after verifications, it was the real one ️

---

Here at BHW, I learned a important concept : never let yourself be defeated.

So, Ebay is now a scam, ok, no problem, I just have to ban it from my life.
I have many things to sell, I will sell it.
But idk where to sell as well as at Ebay years ago.

I'll try amazon, and all the biggest marketplaces, but I need advice from people with experience to avoid another scam.
Where should I go to sell ? (I sell consumer electronics and electronics components).
Where should I avoid to go ?

Notice that I'm working on a ecommerce website to avoid marketplace dependency (should I concentrate my efforts here and forget about marketplaces ?).

Thank you for those who take de time to read and reply, and sorry if my english is not perfect ️

Google shopping the next :) I sell on it from amazon using easync repricer

This is weird, you are maybe sell Vero or some prohibited items.

Sorry for the late reply.

etsy maybe ?
Yes, but actually I encounter difficulties with signup (different physical address & identity address), waiting their reply about that.

Unfortunately, it's not possible, I just have the big red message "your account is blocked" when I try to login, but every messages and anything else was deleted by ebay...

That's the risk you take when you dropship.
Yes I know, but it was not dropshipping, it was physical stock.

I don't believe in you
If you had told me that, I wouldn't have believed you either before encountering the problem.

me too, eBay is great place to sell things
Yes I agree, but today they can ban honest sellers and leaving scam sellers alone.
Take a look on trustpilot reviews, if you want more stories about that, you will be served !

They deleted my products because of woocommerce is not updated lol.
But no problem for me, I'm actually building a ecommerce website from scratch, it will be 10x faster and not flagged by google.

Impossible, I tried to sell unbranded (generic) electronics circuits.

Update :
- I created a woocommerce website and added all products manually to google shopping, very bad idea, woo is even worse than years ago... bad performances, worse UX than before, and flagged by google because of updates, etc...

- I signed up on 10+ platforms :
> 2 where broken (and it was the worst of all platforms so I don't care).
> 3 waiting for account validation (I'm not in the right country so I have to pass more securities).
> Waiting for resolving the issue with etsy (But not sure it's suitable for electronic circuits, I'll better sell handmade things)
> 1 refused my subscription (joom).
> Vinted doesn't accept electronics products, but looks nice for other products, waiting for the first sales to scale up.
> The other accepted the products, but they have a poor traffic.
> Amazon is too expensive for me right now, but surely I'll go for it in a while.
> Aliexpress, dhgate & others are all obviously cheaper than me.
Result after 1+ week : 0 sales.

- Actually I'm coding the new ecommerce website, it will take a long time to build, but performances will be very good (100% on every page speed checkers), very good SEO, custom features, etc... better than woo, cheaper than others, and designed in a replicable way, because I'll create many websites for each niche to try everything I can do: SaaS, "true" dropshipping, digital services, and classic ecommerce.

How much more financially expensive is coding your own engine, for example, than Shopify? do you code yourself?

Yes, it used to be much easier to sell on Ebay, in fact, it’s all because of scammers, the protection system has been blocking many honest sellers in recent years, the only way out is to have many accounts, so that if one is blocked, there will be something to sell from further

Unfortunately, it's not possible, I just have the big red message "your account is blocked" when I try to login, but every messages and anything else was deleted by ebay...
The messages will still appear in your mail box

Last years, ebay don't care anymore about if you are good seller or not, if they want to suspend your account, they will do it without a reason. Why don't you go for Stealth accounts?

Did you tried Shopify?

Why friend?
  1. High Fees: PayPal charges fees for receiving payments, and these fees can cut into a seller's profits, especially for small businesses with tight profit margins. Sellers may feel that these fees are too high, particularly when compared to other payment processing options.
  2. Payment Holds: PayPal has been known to place holds on funds in a seller's account, especially for new or high-risk accounts. This can be frustrating for sellers who rely on quick access to their funds to operate their business.
  3. Disputes and Chargebacks: PayPal tends to side with buyers in disputes and chargebacks, which can leave sellers vulnerable to fraudulent claims or dishonest buyers. Sellers may feel that PayPal's dispute resolution process is biased and not in their favor.
  4. Account Freezes and Suspensions: PayPal has strict policies and can freeze or suspend seller accounts for various reasons, including suspicion of fraudulent activity or excessive chargebacks. This can disrupt a seller's business operations and cause financial stress.
  5. Limited Seller Protections: Some sellers believe that PayPal's seller protection policies are inadequate and do not provide enough coverage in cases of fraud or disputes, leaving them exposed to potential losses.
  6. Inconsistent Customer Support: Sellers may encounter difficulties when trying to reach PayPal customer support, and they might feel that the support provided is inadequate or unhelpful.
  7. Currency Conversion Fees: For international sellers, PayPal's currency conversion rates and fees can be a concern, as they may not offer competitive rates compared to other currency exchange options.

Well, we can agree with a lot, although in my experience there were no problems with working through PayPal, maybe I was just lucky))
