Hey BHW! Newbie to the blackhat business, but my first impression is that this is a very exciting space. I find the mix of "hacker" mentality and openness to collaboration I've seen here really appealing and want to throw my (grey) hat into the ring.

My interest in this stuff started when I wanted to buy my wife some Taylor Swift tickets a few months ago and I became irrationally angry at how much scalpers had hiked the prices. As an IT industry veteran, I figured "two can play at that game" and wrote a quick bot to swoop in and grab us a couple tickets that were trickling out closer to the concert date. To my surprise, ticketmaster actually put up some non-trivial resistance to my doing so, and I had so much fun circumventing their bot-mitigation measures that I was immediately hooked. In my research around this topic I stumbled on BHW and have been a lurker since.

My current project is designing secure, scalable, and performant mobile proxy networks (not an ad, nothing for sale). I find that local proxy networks offer up a great model within which to tinker with some classic distributed-systems problems while iterating quickly. I've been completely focused on the technical side of things until now, but I really need to figure out good ways to monetize my setup if I'm to become more than just a modem-hoarder. If anyone has advice for someone in my position or wants some input on a tech issue, feel free to holler!

Great introduction! I hope you finally get that ticket. Have a Nice stay here
Thanks! I actually ended up securing some a while ago. I spent most of the concert standing in the the merch line with the other husbands, but she had a great time haha.

Got it! I meant "hacker mentality" in the sense of "pragmatic outside-the-box problem solving", but definitely good to know I shouldn't discuss "hacking" proper (not my jam anyway tbh).

Welcome to the forum I know you'll like it here!
