Hello. I have a way to download a course from udemy https://www.udemy.com/course/affiliate-marketing-and-organic-seo/ for free.
1. Should I even spend my time learning this, since it is from 2021?
2. Is it a good start to learn SEO and begin my affiliate marketing journey?
3. Will I be able to apply BH techniques, even tho the course is around WH?

May sound dumb to ask this, but I have to find out one way or another

1. if it's free, why not? At least you'll learn something...
2. if it's written by a good SEOer, sure!
3. building links is BH, so you can definitely apply this technique to any website. Not sure about other BH techniques, though...

Anyway, you're on the biggest SEO forum in the world, and you have free access to SEO knowledge around the clock, you don't need that course if I'm being honest. But again, since it's free for you why not get it and see what it's about? :)

If a course is old, that does not mean everything inside it has become obsolete. If you are brand new to the scene, you can download the course as it covers the fundamentals of affiliate marketing and SEO. Once done, you can upgrade your knowledge by browsing here and reading relevant threads having discussion on present scenario of SEO. Enrolling in a course offers the advantage of organized and systematic learning. This is the main advantage. Best.

Thanks for responses, I am downloading the course right now.

Is there anything I should do on the side that will benefit me later? For example, should I grow an instagram, reddit or some other SM account? Altough I understand that we learn best from mistakes, my priority would be to move as smart as I can.

if you have the time and dedication, sure! Having more traffic is always good...

But beware, if you want to make money with SEO and you don't have a decent budget initially SEO is going to take up most of your involvement. Saying this because I can't see how you'd be able to grow your social accounts while doing successful SEO at the same time. If you also have a social life and / or family... well... I'd really be curious to see how you manage them all successfully :)

  1. Learning from a 2021 course can still be valuable as the fundamentals of SEO often remain consistent, but supplement it with up-to-date resources.

  2. It's a decent start for SEO and affiliate marketing, but remember, practical experience and staying current are key.

  3. White-hat techniques are a solid foundation; once experienced, consider more advanced tactics cautiously, as they can have risks

2. Is it a good start to learn SEO and begin my affiliate marketing journey?
Yes, even some materials from years prior to 2020 are still relevant. For the most part, the foundation for SEO is mostly the same, only that now it's more of quality than quantity. Quality and precision.
3. Will I be able to apply BH techniques, even tho the course is around WH?
The earlier you stop looking at things from the lenses of Whitehat and blackhat, the better for your SEO journey.

Learn all you have to learn, and gradually start applying them. Doing what is traditionally considered Whitehat would not even protect from Google's update when it decides to strike.

By the way, this is not an encouragement to sp your site with crap.

You should try if it is free

It depends on your current level of SEO. If you are like in the beginning, I would go with it to start from somewhere, and maybe learn some basic jargon and all that. But if you are not new to this, I would consider this a waste of time. All Udemy SEO courses are too basic. Most of the SEO I've learnt has been through reading in forums and reddit, and is the only way to find fresh info.

Sure, 2021 is not that far in the past. Much of the material should still be pertinent.
2. Is it a good start to learn SEO and begin my affiliate marketing journey?
Again sure, especially if you are in the beginning of your IM journeys.

Don't worry about blackhat until the time comes that you need it, you should have an idea when that is.
