Hello everyone
I've started this journey as a place to drop some of my thoughts, document what's happening and hopefully improve my motivation enough to actually follow up. I've got a small site that peaked at 8.5k users in March this year. It's a very seasonal topic with the worst months being over the summer period, December also sucks. The site is based on an industry I used to work in, it has had very little link building or even keyword research, I just wrote things I thought would be of interest to my peers. Below shows the last 12 months Users.

My plan is to modify / improve a selection of the articles using chatGPT, this will include adding a short executive summary to the start of the article, a conclusion on the end, suggestions for related content, FAQ and anything else I can think of in the moment. If the article already has some of these, I'll leave the originals in place but add what it doesn't have. I'm selecting the articles based on the following criteria: doesn't rank first for main keyword suggested by ahrefs and ahrefs says the article receives traffic. Once I've updated the articles, I'll add another 10-12 pure AI content articles (I used to write 1 article per month) in small clusters around a specific topic that's closely related to the overall site but stepping slightly away from the theme of the existing articles. I have also recently added an about us page to the site and given the authors a bio section with links to their social media.
I currently have 98 articles on the site and a total of 76,262 words, I also have 7 articles I've written at 7,192 total words scheduled to be published before Christmas. I will provide an update once I have updated the selection of articles, I don't plan to update this often, once at the start of each month seems sufficient. I plan to reassess things again in January to see if it was worth while at which point I may scale up.
