Just a few tips for you guys, first thread in the making money section so bare with me,
Ok, ive been doing ebay for the last 5 years, in that time Ive learned the right/wrong way of doing this.
I couldnt be fucked paying 80$ in fees once when i first started out and got my account disabled, etc, all dumb shit like that, but since then im a lot smarter with ebay.
Anyways,
Ebay is really untapped as far as implementing offers/cashing in etc when someone wins (or in my cases, dont win but I make them win anyway).
its like this.
For this quick example, ill say Im selling 10 Britannica Encyclopedia 2009 books, and I only list that in the auction.
Once ive reached that mark, I stop the ebay upper ( and the ebay upper only comes into play usually the last 1 hour of my 5 day auctions, as thats when people bid cause they are paranoid lol)
) and actually wins the auction,
and say
Ebay upper wins the auction at 150.00$ + $20.00 insurance/postage
user 2 bidded $140.00 .
User 1 bidded $130.00
I send 1 message to user 1 and 2 telling them that even though they didnt win, I could work out a deal with them and sell them another set of Britannica encyclopedia books that I have lying around, for their final bid price.
And because they were unlucky in the bidding and I feel for them, I will throw in FREE registered postage and insurance with their order.
Now see what I did there?
I just made 2 sales (Remember, I only had to make 1 to cover what I consider to be enough for my profit margin)
and I can accept the fees of free postage, because having 2 sales with 1 listings fee, and 70% profit of what I sell, Its fucking great.
Now some of you are thinking, How would you do the checkout for them, wont they bitch and say you do another listing so i can safely checkout?
No, My ebay feedback speaks for myself, and they trust me, more importantly I give them the option of doing a bank deposit or checkout via a paypal money request sent to their email (after I ask them for their email)
and voila.

Now, I create a second ebay account, and save it in a text file named 'ebay upper' , and the sole purpose of this account is to just up my auction to an amount that covers cost and makes it worth my time (profit wise).

After they agreed to pay you for that price, you say to them,
'if your interested, and I never do this in my auctions, I will sell you 3 new Britannica Encyclopedia 2010 books with Free atlas for only $30.00 more.*
Now, I milked that sucker out of some more money selling him something that wasnt of any 'real' value, but because hes already buying from me, they feel like they want the complete set of books, so of course they will pay it.
once again, what you should learn here is, and What I use to learn in Ewh()re is YOU MILK MILK MILK.
After they agreed to pay you for that price, you say to them,

*1.First milking: Fake Ebay Upper account to get my auction to a price I want
(why dont I set it at the price to start with to cover costs? because that scares away too many people and you might as well load up a gun and shoot yourself in the foot)
*2 2nd Milking. If 3 people bid on my auction and all those 3 are over my 'profit margin' amount, then I will send all 3 a message telling them they can win, only if I have 3 of whatever im selling in stock to cover those 3 sales of course!
* 3 3rd Milking: I send them another message, once they agree to pay for it but before they do pay for it, saying ' oh, btw, Ive got this ____ that I didnt really want to sell, but ill sell it to you for only $xx.00 or $xxx.00 more

Dont spring this offer on them before they agree to pay their bidding amount, because you will scare them away. Because you messaged them first and they agreed, you now have some Rapport with them,
and they see you as a 'guy trying to help them out' instead of a 'guy trying to sting them 5 times before sun down
