Which backlink type do you find to be the most powerful method?

In your opinion what method do you find seems to give your site the most boost in the rankings?

Articles
Profile backlinks
Blog commenting
Linkwheels

I figure this would be a good thread for the new folks to help them out along their path to success.

I have found that link exchange is one of the best ways to get back links. i have started my adsense site for 4 months right now and iam on 5th page in google fighting to proceed foreward. other competing sites which are recently added have reached page 2 and 3 in google and upon analysis of thier backlinks all of them were because of putting a link on someone other site with PR 2 or more and thats it. i have read that you must have different IPs to get good link juice but it seems that no one really knows how does google think. what is your opinion guys.

It's very important to understand that you need a variety of different types of backlinks for best results.

This is the best advice to follow. I started a website around 90 days ago that was rated "Extremely Difficult" to get on the first page of "G". I used manual backlinking and link-wheels to get to the 2nd of page of "G" within 35 days.

I G-danced between pages two and three for another couple of weeks. To get over this hump, I started adding fresh content and pinging the site daily. This moved me to page one finally where the site is still has a PR of 0 in the middle of pages that are all aged with PR's between 3-6.

My site is less that 100 days old so I am very happy with the results.

I just started using Scrapebox a few days ago, so we will see how well it works on this site and a few others I just started.

did you make linkwheels manually or via softwares. and also how much linkwheels didi you do?

Manually. I followed the Backlinks Blackbelt guide (do a search for it on this forum). It was tedious and time consuming, but it works.

Unique article submissions on high PR directories like Ezine Articlesbase and Associatedcontent.

You definitely need to get as many diverse backlinks as possible. Use blog posts, angela and paul style links, forum profiles, articles, and linkwheels to get the best possible rankings. Then bookmark, ping, and RSS submit the hell out of all of them. It can be a lot of work or you can outsource it. It just depends on how bad you want a top ranking.

most powerful backlinks should be the one from .gov high pr relevant page inside blog post with low obl.this will beat 10000 of xrumer blast,i have seen 6 month old sites with 100+ backlinks, having hardly few or no high pr links but just one such link and they are on first page filled with pr7 and pr6 high authority sites in highly competitive niche.

when talking about overall bl strategy, quality beats quantity. diversified, regular, relevant links are best way to go.

are other education domains as good as .edu ? like .ac.uk ?

Article sites s*ck. I killed tone of time writing stupid articles and submitting them all over the place and they are just sitting there and they are never indexed. I did both junk and quality article sites and they are all the same. If you thought Squidoo and Ezine artcles a quality ones, you would be surprised how much are they ignored by SEs.

I did social bookmarks and SE pings, to help articles get indexed, but to no avail.

I am now leaving comments manually in various hi PR blogs and that works fine. At least I get indexed links.

you need backlinks from every source, articles, profile, blog comments, relevant links. Everything is important.

I get backlinks from all sorts of sites. Article submissions, press releases, blog commenting, profile links, forum posting, link wheels, link exchanges with other webmasters, social bookmarking, stat blasting, and more....
These have all pushed my SERPs to new heights but the method that has lifted my pages to the highest of these highs have been profile links.
I usually get started the first few days writing content for link wheels, articles, and press releases... then i boost the rankings i get from these with anchor text profile links.. I did this for many pages on my site. These pages were all sitting on page 3-5 in google... then i did some profile links to each of these pages which pushed me to page 1 on all of these pages for each keyword i was working towards.

U know... SEOing ur site offpage is a lot like having sex, u can't just squirt and be done with it... Gentlemen INCORRECT! , you need a variety of positions, places and experiences to be fully satisfied, the same is true if you want to reach that highly competitive G-Spot.

</Let the "Thank U" rain begin! LOL>

definitely, they are worth.
we concentrate more on commenting as it brings targeted traffic but directory and article submission once in a while to make all links natural.
we never comment on all do f0ll0w blogs always. we spread links among high pr to even just indexed pages.
Have got lot to write but this is like soul of our link-building campaigns.
