Bluesky is up and coming and I think it has the scope to be the next big thing.

Mastodon and the fediverse unfortunately aren't for your average social media users. For one, they are quite limited currently with their audience, they don't really have any decent recommendation algorithms yet and their audience is mostly just tech-savvy people.

Maybe now that twitter is going to deep shit again, we might see a major exodus of "normal users" tho. Only time will tell.

Bluesky is mostly tech savvy users. It isn't a platform that is ready for prime time yet - they can't even process the invites right now and have blocked signups from too many people trying to run over there.

There is talk he is doing this because of Macron - they are friends and the French that I know think he is doing this to keep any up to date real coverage from the people in the riots of being posted now that Macron has ordered complete censorship of the riots (which started when the cops shot an unarmed black french guy).

We'll clearly have to disagree on whether billionaire-class expertise is needed to spot that Twitter is a flaming bag of poo right now. Some would say fire is visible to anyone with eyes, and not only to physicists who could detail the thermodynamics involved or do fluid modeling on the surrounding air.

There are several social networks that are trying to get some eyes. I have used;

2. wt social, and some others as well that are new contenders for the social networking race.

Although new Social Networks may seem promising, still they have a long way to go, and I also believe, websites are going to be new social networks.

I disagree...with the banning of VPNS that is in process in America the rumors of "tiering the internet" that persisted, at least in America, during the net neutrality debates may come to form,where the internet packages get tiered like cable channels.

Banning social media/limiting it is all about stopping the real exchange of news in real time. People, at least here, don't read, so they are least likely to go to strange websites, let alone known ones now.

He may care if somebody higher up in govt told him to do it. We don't really know Elon's role in breaking social media. A lot of what he is doing seems mighty convienent in the grand scheme of reeling in news on it.

First of all he is friends with Macron. Second of all I have French friends, as in French nationalists that are currently in America. There's no next, Twitter will be fine. People forget all his failures in Spacex and Tesla in 2008, but later he conquered as always.

That's a pattern of success, and he's fir sure the real deal despite that clout.

Hsi track record is solid from PayPal to SpaceX like you said even Tesla phones were unique.
